Harry Potter é ou não é literatura?/ Is Harry Potter literature or not?

Ruth Rocha comemora 50 anos de carreira: “Harry Potter não é literatura”
Não faz muitos dias li uma notícia que contava que Ruth Rocha havia dito que Harry Potter não era literatura. Nem preciso mencionar meu ódio imediato pela ousadia por motivos óbvios estampados ao longo do meu corpo (e alma). Mas enfim, o texto aqui nao é exatamente para defender a JK ou criticar a Ruth Rocha. O que me chamou a atenção, e que eu fiquei pensando após ler foi que a reportagem terminava com o seguinte questionamento, afinal o que é literatura pra vc?
Sim, porque está é a pergunta que fará você ter ou não raiva da Ruth. Tudo depende do que ela considera como literatura e o que você considera como literatura.
Eu, desde a época da faculdade, sempre fui alguém totalmente desprendida dos padrões literários impostos pela Academia Brasileira de Letras ou quem quer que se ache no direito de avaliar algo como literatura ou não.
O pessoal lá sempre ensinou muito a gente sobre o Preconceito Linguístico…agora, e o preconceito literário, onde fica?
Meus professores, acho que poderia dizer na totalidade, sempre meteram a boca em autores pops como o Paulo Coelho, e por conta disso, muitos coleguinhas seguiam o padrão e se tornavam odiadores dos caras, simplesmente porque alguém que eles admiravam não curte e disse que é ruim.
Eu até hoje digo que não tenho bala na agulha pra criticar o Paulo Coelho pois eu li apenas um livro dele até hoje, que foi o Onze Minutos (algo bem diferente do estilo que o consagrou – O Alquimista, Diário de um Mago etc.), que pra mim foi simplesmente OK. Não foi nossa o melhor livro que já li na vida e nem nossa o pior livro que já li, e sempre acreditei que, se você que falar mal de alguma coisa com propriedade precisa conhecê-la, senão é tudo apenas pré-conceito e enfim, bla bla bla.
A mesma situação de diz que me disse acontece com a Stephanie Meyer, autora dos livros de Crepúsculo. O povo não cansa de meter o pau na mulher por causa do vampiro que brilha, mas quantas das pessoas que metem o pau realmente já leram os livros pra criticar?
Eu li todos dela, e digo q o melhor livro é o A Hospedeira. Um história muito legal, achei muito bem contruída e tudo mais. Quanto a Crepúsculo, pra mim se enquadra bem no gênero passatempo emocionante. A classificação Mimi desse tipo de livro é “Livro Novela”, o qual eu acho demais quando estou lendo, sempre recomendo que minhas amigas leiam, mas que com certeza não levará nenhum grande conceito adiante na história. E quer saber, tudo bem pessoal. eu não tiro o mérito de quem escreve livros deste tipo. Acho que Paulo Coelho deve se encaixar bem aqui nessa minha classificação particular (um dia eu ainda tiro a prova).
Mas enfim, tudo isso desenvolvido pra dizer que na minha opinião, literatura é uma obra que te faz levar lições pra vida, que mesmo passando-se anos será lembrada pela situação x, y ou z, que tem uma linguagem ao mesmo tempo rica e neutra o suficiente para viver por gerações, que tem citações e ensinamentos marcantes, e enfim, é por isso que pra mim Harry Potter é sim literatura e vai viver sim eternamente, vide o lançamento do último livro que foi a 8 anos atrás, e as pessoas comentam sobre essa história hoje em dia como se tivesse sido ontem que o final dela foi descoberto.
A Ruth que me desculpe. Eu respeito muito a opinião dela, mas na minha literatura, Harry tá no topo, assim como 1984, Orgulho e Preconceito, —-Wicked e muitos outros livros.

It’s no been to long I read some news that advised that Ruth Rocha had said she believed Harry Potter wasn’t literature. I won’t bother to mention my immediate hate by such daring comment because of obvious reasons inked on my body (and soul).
But well, the text here is not exactly to defend JK or make critics to Ruth. What called my attention , and I thought a lot about reading the article was the following question, after all what’s literature for you?
Yes, because that’s the question that will make you angry or not with Ruth. It all depends on what she considers as literature and what you consider as literature.
I, since college, was always someone that is totally unattached to literary patterns imposed by the Brazilian Languages Academy or whatever institution that feels the right to do it.
The people there (at college) taught us a lot about the Linguistic Prejudice,but now, was about Literary Prejudice?
My teachers, I believe I could say majority of them, always criticize authors like Paulo Coelho, and because of that, a lot of my colleagues followed the same pattern of the guys’ haters, simply because someone they admired said they weren’t good.
I, until today, do not have balls to criticize Paulo Coelho because so far I just read one of his books, which was 11 Minutes (something really different from the style that made him famous – The Alchemist, The Pilgrimage etc) and that for me was OK. It was not the Oh my God the best book I’ve ever read, but it wasn’t close to the worst I’ve ever read too, and I always believed that if you want to say bad things about something with property, you need to know this thing, otherwise it’s all just bullshit and prejudice and bla bla bla.
The same situation applies to what happens to Stephanie Meyer, Twilight books author. People are never tired to criticize the woman because of the vampire that shines, but how many people that make critics like this really read the books to criticize it?
I read all of them, and I can tell that the best book is The host. It’s a pretty cool story very well constructed and all. As for Twilight, my opinion is that it fits on the spend time gender. The Mimi’s classification for this kind of book is a “soap opera book”, which I think it’s great when I’m reading, I recommend that my friends read it too, but I’m pretty sure that it won’t take any subject to the story. And you know what, it’s OK guys. I don’t take the merit of the authors that write this kind of book. I believe Paulo Coelho must fit on this particular classification of mine (one day I’ll take the proof).
Well well, all that said to say that in my opinion, literature is any work that makes you to extract lessons to your life, lessons that even if the time passes you’ll get them. It’s a story that even if years pass you’ll remember the story because of the x, y or z situation, and that at the same time can have a neutral and rich language that can live over generations. It’s a story that has outstanding quotes and lessons, and that’s the reason that , for me, Harry Potter is literature and it will live forever. Highlight to the fact that the last book was released 8 years ago and people talk about it as if the end was released yesterday.
Ruth will have to excuse me. I respect her opinion, but on my literature concept, Harry is on the top,as is 1984, Pride and Prejudice, Wicked and many others.
