Fangirl – Rainbow Rowell (Fangirl)

Fangirl - Rainbow Rowell (Fangirl)

FANGIRL

I’m definitely in love for this book. It’s a story that is simple and enchanting. Maybe the love for it was created by the fact that it tells a story of a girl that I saw myself in on many situations.
It tells a story about Cath, a girl with 18 years old that goes to college with her twin sister, Wren. They grew up without their mother (who abandoned them when they were 8) and since this tim they became huge fans of Simon Snow (the Harry Potter of the real life). But when they are going to college, Cath’s sister doesn’t want to hang out with her, and she doesn’t care about Simon Snow like before, besides she finds another dorm and room mate , cuts her hair shorter to be different from Cath, and she even starts to tease Cath when the subject Simon Snow appears.
Cath then, against her will, goes to live in a dorm with an older room mate, Reagan. Reagan has a boyfriend named Levi, who always goes to their dorm, and then they end up getting close to Cath and becoming friends with her. Maybe the only ones Cath has because og pure pressure of them since Cath is that nerd antisocial kind that writes fanfics (on this case, about Simon Snow). Her story is a success on the fanfic site, but none on college knows that.
The book will then show Cath’s firs year at college. Her worries with her father, that has a psychological historic since her mother’s abandonment (he stays at home alone when the girls go to college), her twin sister (who seems to be losing control of what’s freedom at college), her romantic adventures and misadventures, and mainly how she handles everything and keep writing the Simon Snow fanfics.
This book MUST be read by all the nerd girls like myself. You, my dear nerd friend, will definitely find that Cath’s thoughts are your own.
I bought this book because of Mel’s influence. She used to speak so much about it, and she had a collection of several different coverages that I became even more curious. I worth every penny I invested. I would buy more versions of it if we had then in Brazil. But the special coverages are all american. In Brazil we only that he light green one, which is the original coverage.

Stop everything, cause I need to comment about Levi! Levi is the most good guy, friend, partner and clumsy I’ve ever seen! I can’t decide if I liked him more than I like Cath, because I saw so much of myself on her, or if I liked him, because he’s that kind of person we admire since we know them. Everybody wants to be like him, including Cath. Maybe it comes from here the first interest sparkle of Cath about him, and maybe it comes from here the lack of interest of Reagan on spending time with him. Reagan is not the kind of girl that wouldn’t work out with Levi for a long time. Everybody that reads the books gets it.
We spend the whole story wanting a thing between Cath and him, even Cath thinking Mick (her class mate) hotter and interesting that Levi in the beginning.
I gave some screams when the bad Nick cheated Cath by stealing the story they both have written together, because then Cath finally got over him and any romantic idea she could have about him.
Now, when Cath and Levi kissed for the first time. OMG! The facts after the kiss are SO the same to everything I already lived in my real life, that people, Rainbow can only be a nerd girl that used to think the same way to be able to tell so good the nerd girl thought of the story. If she wasn’t, then I let my congrats here for her talent.
I liked a lot how the abandonment subject is handled and how this marked and influenced the twins throughout the story. And it’s Levi (the one!) that is able to define how each of the twins handle life after this mark. He’s the quotes guy from the book, he has a lot of reflexive quotes in the story.
I liked the casual and light end of the book, and I liked pretty pretty much the way the story was developed in 3rd person. Different from the 1st person narrative that dominates the market nowadays. I liked it so much you can’t even imagine. Well, you have a little bit of notion by the impartiality of this digest .(notatall)
Things I didn’t like: The fanfics excerpts really big in the middle of the story and the fact that it’s Simon Snow when you clearly see that the author refers to Harry Potter. I couldn’t understand why not using Harry himself. Maybe there’s something to do with the copyrights. If some day I find out I’ll sure post it on the blog inside this text.

Aliás, eu vi foto do livro Carry On e fiquei com meus botões pensando q talvez ela tivesse feito por algo assim. e vc me diz, vc nao vai querer ler o Carry On? Eu vou hehehehe. Essa Rainbow é danada.
