O Prisioneiro do Céu – Carlos Ruiz Zafon (El Prisionero Del Cielo – The Prisoner of Heaven)

O Prisioneiro do Céu - Carlos Ruiz Zafon (El Prisionero Del Cielo - The Prisoner of Heaven)

o prisioneiro do céu

I bought this book with the eagerness of knowing what else Zafon could have written after the story, I beg your pardon, fucking awesome of The Shadow of The Wind.
Actually I bought the box with the trilogy of stories that happens in Barcelona and are related to The Forgotten Book’s Cemetery, which are The Shadow of The Wind, The Prisoner of the Heaven, and The Angel’s Game, which is quoted on The Prisoner of The Heaven. There’s indeed a little connexion between the stories.
Well, feeling super duper excited about the other story I picked up this book quickly to read as soon as it arrived at home, and I can say I was not disappointed. The story is written by Zafon, so come on, you know he’s the man of the language! His text id impeccable and guys, can you adore somebody else but Fermin on this story? I simply adore him, he’s my favourite character of the two books for sure!
I liked the idea that Zafon had developed more about Fermin’s dark past on this book, and also clarified more about Daniel’s mother past, but I can’t make many comments about the story itself because I don’t want to give spoiler here to whom did not read The Shadow of The Wind.
By the way, if you did not read The Shadow of The Wind, what are you waiting for to start? Serious, you’re missing time on your life you could be reading the story that will definitely blow your mind of pleasure.

I can say that I think the book is to brief. Zafon could have written more in the end. I had the impression that he left some stuff kind of opened to a possible sequel…will it be? And because this book is shorter than the Shadow of the Wind I risk to say that it could fit inside the Shadow of The Wind, but anyway, I believe that first due to obvious capitalistic reasons, it was released later. I also believe that Zafon might have removed this portion of the story with details about Fermin’s life, because he thought it wasn’t relevant to the main story of the Shadow, and well, after the release and huge success of The Shadow, he decided to publish it, since everybody would want to know more about the characters he had presented.

This book came in a moment I could feel each flavour contained on each quote. It’s impressing how much a good story can do for you…wonders, I assure.

SPOILER ALERT
*****************
I do not have much to speak which contain spoilers. I only say that I thought pretty interesting Fermim not being by chance on the street where he “found” Daniel on that incident with Clara episode. I loved the connection of his life (Fermin’s) with Daniel’s life that is not showed on the first volume.
For me, Zafon should have explained more the nature of the relationship of Martin and Daniel’s mother, besides what’s written on the letter that Martin left to Daniel, but anyway, the presented was not so bad, and at last, the story could have been more developed. I thought that a lot of points were left opened as this one on Martin and Daniel’s mother relationship, where the hell the crazy director from the prison was, etc.

  1. Mi,
