Como Eu Era Antes De Você – JoJo Moyes (Me Before You)

É cedo para dizer, mas este livro com certeza é um grande candidato ao hall dos meus 5 livros lidos mais legais do ano.
Durante a leitura e após ela uma pergunta se manteve em minha mente constantemente: Quem é realmente deficiente nesta história?
E mais, você é apresentado a uma outra questão muito importante: Todo mundo tem algum setor deficiente na vida. Agora, você deixa que sua deficiência te defina?
O livro conta a história de Lou, que após ser demitida do café que trabalhava aceita um emprego de cuidadora de um tetraplégico (Will) pois não pode ficar sem emprego já que contribui muito com as despesas da família.
O começo é muito difícil pois Will se mostra muito desagradável com todos ao seu redor, mas conforme o tempo passa Lou e Will começam a desenvolver uma relação que mudará sua vida para sempre.
E pra quem pensa que o livro é tipo A Culpa É Das Estrelas já adianto, não é. Acho que ouvi comentários assim pelo fato das duas histórias terem finais um tanto quanto tristes. Mas gente, o mundo literário tá cheio de finais tristes, e não acho que o final desta história seja em nada parecido com esse livro ou mesmo com Um Amor Pra Recordar por exemplo.
Muitos disseram ter chorado lendo o livro também, eu posso dizer que não chorei. Teve momento em que quase chorei, mas sei lá, eu realmente não achei a história triste nesse nível. Eu achei a história muito bonita, e como disse a pergunta do quem é realmente o deficiente na história se manteve comigo sempre. Lou pra mim em muito momentos foi mais deficiente que Will.
Enfim, só o que posso dizer sem dizer muito é leiam, pois é uma lição de vida em forma de narrativa de ficção.

O mais legal da história foi ver o quanto Will ajudava Lou enquanto ela achava que ela estava o ajudando. No caso ela estava, mas ele a ajudou muito mais do que o contrário.
Você fica super sem entender o total desmerecimento, a total falta de ambição, e perspectiva de futuro de Lou na história até que ela conta sobre o acontecimento que a fez ser do jeito que é, até o fato de usar roupas loucas. Quando o acontecimento é mostrado, mesmo sem ser narrado eu já saquei de primeira. Ela se esconde porque se acha culpada.
Will que sempre foi rico, bem sucedido, encontra em Lou a pureza que havia perdido, ou que talvez nunca tenha tido (dá pra perceber o questionamento dele a respeito disso) e a partir do momento em que ele começa a conhecê-la ele se apaixona por ela e ela por ele.
Podemos dizer que foi um encontro de almas certas no momento errado. Will é o tipo de pessoa que nunca aceitaria viver nada pela metade, e esse é um dos motivos pelos quais ele afasta tudo e todos dele após o acidente. Isso fica bem claro quando ele fala pra Lou que ele a queria tanto quando ela o queria, mas que ele não estava disposto a tê-la de uma forma que não fosse a que ele queria. Ele preferiu a morte a ter uma vida na qual ele teria que ser definido pela condição física em que estava. O fato aqui é que ele amava tanto o Will que era antes do acidente, que nunca aceitaria viver sendo o Will na cadeira de rodas. Esse Will não era ele e ele não estava disposto a aceitar ser definido por esta nova condição.
Totalmente egoísta? Alguns podem dizer que sim. Eu posso dizer que o entendi. E também entendi Lou. Enfim, eu entendi todos os lados. E acho que isso foi o que me fez gostar tanto desta história. Não há um lado certo contra um errado. Há muitos pontos de vista de uma determinada situação. O que nos mostra que dependendo do jeito como você encara um fato, esse jeito pode ser definitivo para sua vida.

It’s early to say, but this book is certainly a great candidate for the hall of my five coolest books read of the year.
While reading and after it a question remained in my mind constantly: Who is really deficient in this story?
And more, you are introduced to another very important question throughout the story: Everyone has some faulty sector on life. Now, do you let this fault define you?
The book tells the story of Lou, who after being fired from coffee shop accepts a caregiver job of a quadriplegic (Will) since she cannot be unemployed because she contributes a lot to the family expenses.
The beginning is very difficult because Will proves to be very nasty with everyone around him, but as time goes by Lou and Will begin to develop a relationship that will change her life forever.
And for those who think that the book is like The Fault in Our Stars I affirm, it is not. I think I heard comments like this because the two stories have a somewhat sad end. But people, the literary world is full of sad endings, and I do not think the end of this story is nothing like John Green’s book or even with A Walk to Remember for example.
Many said they cried reading the book too, I personally can say that I did not. There were times when I almost cried, but I don’t know, I really did not think the story was sad on that level. I thought this is a beautiful story, and as I said the question of who is really deficient in the story has remained with me forever. Lou, for me, in many moments was poorer than Will.
Anyway, all I can say without saying too much is read it, it is a lesson to our lives in the form of fictional narrative.

The coolest of the story was to see how much Will helped Lou as she thought she was helping him. Indeed she was, but he helped her more than otherwise.
You get yourself not understanding all the unworthiness, the total lack of ambition, and Lou’s future perspective in the story until she tells about the event that made her be the way she is, even the fact of the crazy clothes. When the event is shown, even without being narrated I’ve known at first. She hides herself because she feels guilty.
Will who has always been rich, successful, finds in Lou a purity that he got lost, or may never have found (you can see his questioning about it) and from the moment he begins to know her he falls in love with her and her for him.
We can say it was a soul meeting at the wrong time. Will is the kind of person who would never accept living things by halves, and this is one of the reasons he removes everybody and everything from his life after the accident. This is clear when he talks to Lou that he wanted her as much as she wanted him, but he was not willing to have it in a way that was not the way he wanted. He preferred death to have a life in which he would have to be defined by the physical condition he was in. The fact here is that he loved so much the Will he was before the accident, that he would never accept living as the Will in a wheelchair. This Will was not him and he wasn’t willing to accept being defined by this new condition.
Totally selfish? Some may say yes. I can say that I understand. And also I understand Lou. Anyway, I understand all sides. And I think that was what made me so fond of this story. There is no right side against a wrong. There are many points of view of a given situation. Which shows us that depending on the way you face a fact, this way can be definitive for your life.
