A Mediadora: A Terra das Sombras – Meg Cabot (The Mediator: Shadowland)

Começando a honrar uma das minhas promessas hehehe, tá aqui o post sobre o primeio livro da coleção da Mediadora. Só uma das melhores coleções da Meg ever. Se bem que tudo que leio dela eu acabo achando ser o melhor ever…enfim, todos os livros com Suzannah valem MTO a pena.
Suzannah é uma adolescente de 16 aninhos (a idade mágica) que tem além de todo o “teenage drama” possui apenas um pequeno detalhe diferente de todas as outras adolescentes: ela vê espíritos (ou fantasmas como a tradução os denomina).
Desde os 2 anos de idade ela vê almas penadas que vão até ela pedindo ajuda com assuntos inacabados que as impedem de “passar dessa pra melhor”.
O livro então nos leva junto com ela para uma cidadezinha do norte da California, onde Suzannah se muda com a mãe, que acabou de se casar novamente como um homem que tem 3 filhos adolescentes também.(Tão Meg Cabot!) Obviamente, a casa que eles compram é antiga e assombrada por um fantasma misterioso de um “cauboy” e a escola que ela começa a estudar também está sendo assombrada pelo espírito de uma menina que se matou na virada do ano, e foi justamente a menina que cedeu sua vaga para Suzannah na escola nova e por isso a tomará não como uma mediadora, e sim como um inimiga.
Gostei muito da narrativa. As adolescentes se identificarão MUITO com os comentários da Suzannah ao longo da história, e enfim, se você é uma adulta que adora ler/ver romances teens, você também vai gostar de relembrar sua época de ouro através dos comentários super pertinentes da idade que Suzie faz.
Eu resumiria o livro, e talvez a série toda de A Mediadora como um romance típico do estilo Meg Cabot só com a adição dos fantasmas mesmo. Se você já leu algum livro dela e gostou com certeza tem tudo para gostar desta série também. Os livros da Meg tem aquela narrativa descompromissada e agradável de se ler e A Mediadora não foge nem um pouco desta linha.

O primeiro livro de A Mediadora nos dá uma ideia de como a série vai se desenrolar nos outros volumes da série. Ele apresenta o cenário principal que Suzannah estará, os personagens secundários (amigos/família) e o fantasma principal da história toda, o Jesse, que diferente dos outros fantasmas dos livros estará presente em todos os volumes de A Mediadora. Suzannah até chega a desenvolver um amor platônico por ele ao longo da história, e ele será essencial pra ela não acabar em mals leçóis no final deste livro. Jesse é o mocinho “ghost” da história.
Com certeza eu terial aproveitado 110% esse livro se o tivesse lido até os meus 18 anos pois como mencionei em cima o livro é TOTAL adolescente. Fiquei intrigada em saber como a Meg Cabot conseguiu reproduzir tão bem a linguagem teen nesta série…sério, todo mundo sempre desdenha literatura teen, mas qto mais velho você fica, mais difícil conviver nesse mundo, bem pelo menos pra poder dar vida a personagens em livros e fazer tudo ficar interessante.
Acho esse livro, e arrisco a dizer a série toda, muito digna e altamente recomendável.

 

PARA ESTUDANTES DE INGLÊS
Linguagem extremamente fácil. Recomedadíssimo para iniciantes. Aliás se vc é iniciante, acostume-se a ler coisas teens. São bem bem mais fáceil e farão vc adquirir vocabulário pra poder passar pra uma leitura um pouco mais densa futuramente.

 

I’m starting to honor one of my promises hehehe, so here it is the post about the first book of the Mediator collection. Just one of the best collections from Meg. Although everything I read from her I think it’s the best ever … anyway, all the books with Suzannah are really worth.
Suzannah is a teenage 16-year-old (magical age) who has besides all “teenage drama” only a small different detail from all other teenagers: she sees spirits (or ghosts as the translation calls them).
Since age 2, she sees souls who come to her asking for help with unfinished business that prevents them from “going from the this one to a better place”
The book then takes us along with her to a little town in northern California, where Suzannah moves in with her mother, who has just remarried with a man who has three teenage male children as well. (So Meg Cabot!) Obviously, the house they buy is old and haunted by a mysterious ghost of a “cowboy” and the school that she begins to study is also being haunted by the spirit of a girl who killed herself at the turn of the year, who was precisely the girl that provided a vacant place for Suzannah in the new school and so she will take her not as a mediator, but as an enemy.
I really enjoyed the narrative. Teenagers will feel A LOT like Suzannah when she makes comments throughout history, and finally, if you’re an adult who loves to read / see teens novels, you’ll also enjoy remembering your golden age through the super pertinent comments of the age that Suzie does.
I would summarize the book, and perhaps the whole series of The Mediator as a typical Meg Cabot-style novel only with the addition of the ghosts. If you’ve read any of her books and liked them you sure have everything to enjoy this series too. Meg’s books have that uncompromising and enjoyable narrative to read, and The Mediator does not flinch at all.

The Mediator’s first book gives us an idea of ​​how the series will be developed in the other volumes. It presents the main scenario that Suzannah will be, the secondary characters (friends / family) and the main ghost of the whole story, Jesse, who unlike the other ghosts of the books will be present in every volume of The Mediator. Suzannah even develops a platonic love for him throughout the story, and he will be essential for her not to end up in bad sheets at the end of this book. Jesse is the “good guy” ghost in the story.
I sure would have enjoyed 110% of this book if I had read it until I was 18 because as I mentioned above the book is TOTAL teenager vibe. I was intrigued to know how Meg Cabot was able to reproduce so well the language of the teen in this series … seriously, everyone always disdain teen literature, but the older you get, the harder it is to live in this world, at least to give life to characters in books and make everything interesting.
I think this book, and I dare saying the whole series, very worthy and highly recommended.
