Belo Desastre- Jamie Mcguire (Beautiful Disaster)

Se você está à procura de algo no estilo comédia romântica de cinema, esse livro é perfeito para o momento.

Tudo começará quando Abby e sua amiga América são obrigadas a ficar alguns dias na república do namorado da América pois a caldeira do dormitório que elas vivem quebra. Sem água quente, elas se veem meio que sem alternativas, e aceitam a oferta do Shepley.

Acontece que nesta mesma república vive Travis, o primo do Shepley, que é nada mais nada menos que o bad boy mais querido da faculdade. Todas querem tirar uma casquinha dele, e todas acabam conseguindo, ou vice-versa, já que Travis não se apega a ninguém, só pega.

A antipatia entre Abby e Travis quando se conhecem é notória, e a certo ponto eles decidem que seria impossível alguma coisa rolar entre os dois, pois nenhum deles faz o menor tipo do outro. Mas, será? Aí vocês já percebem qual será a temática do livro né? Comédia romântica no maior estilo Dez Coisas que Eu Odeio em Você. Tem várias reviravoltas e acontecimentos inesperados, principalmente da parte da personagem principal, a Abby, mas a gente meio que sabe e torce para o final feliz assim como torceríamos no cinema.

O bom deste livro é que a autora começou a escrever vários spin-offs depois sobre os irmãos do Travis (ele é o 5º irmão de 5), e terminou (aparentemente) a saga de todos eles com o último volume chamado Belo Funeral no final de 2016 (aqui o livro saiu em abril 2017), onde todos os irmãos e respectivas se juntam numa história que foi sendo construída ao longo de todos esses livros. A grande história por trás de todos os irmãos começa no volume do Belo Casamento. Ou seja, se você quiser história pra se distrair neste clã não vai faltar.

Não tem como não querer ler as continuações, mas eu dispensaria o Desastre Iminente assim logo de cara pois ele contém a mesma história do Belo Desastre. Ou então, leria os dois juntos pra saber o ponto de vista dos dois personagens sobre o que está acontecendo.

Eu achei a Abby muito segura de si mesma, com uma autoestima muito elevada e bem definida apesar de todos os problemas que você descobre que ela passou ao longo de seus 19 anos. Não sei se tive essa impressão por ser eu mesma um tanto insegura, mas não acho possível uma garota de 19 anos ser tão confiante de si mesma e decidida sobre o que é o melhor para ela como essa personagem é.

Mas adorei toda a construção do safado que se apaixona e sossega finalmente por uma mocinha toda certinha. Afinal, pode não parecer, mas todo safado uma hora sossega. É só achar a pessoa certa. Eu mesma já vi tanto cara que não valia o que comia, safadão, galinha no último gênero aquietar, casar e até mesmo ter filhos, que acredito super na temática do livro.

 

Desastre Iminente- Jamie Mcguire (Walking Disaster)

Desastre Iminente é a versão do Travis da história.

Se você que curte ler dois pontos de vista da mesma história, valerá a pena pegar este livro, que conta a mesma história do Belo Desastre só que do ponto de vista do Travis, e não da Abby.

Uma dica bem legal é ter os dois livros, Belo Desastre e Desastre Iminente e ir lendo os dois concomitantemente, capítulo a capítulo descobrindo o que o Travis estava pensando e o que a Abby estava pensando.

É, pensando bem eu faria isso se tivesse lendo essas dicas e não tivesse lido nenhum dos livros da série. É bem interessante ler assim.

Apesar de ter sido uma leitura gostosa, eu particularmente acho que poderia ter passado sem ela. Achei muito mais do mesmo, e enfim, muitas coisas que Travis pensa pra mim seriam impossíveis de um homem pensar. (Esse é o grande problema de uma mulher escrever o ponto de vista de um homem- é MTO difícil e vice-versa também).

Mas, se você tiver curtido muito o Belo Desastre vai curtir conhecer mais detalhes da história. De qualquer forma não acho que seja uma leitura desperdiçada. Vale como complemento.

Depois de Belo Desastre e Desastre Iminente o próximo livro é o Belo Casamento.

 

 

Belo Casamento (A Beautiful Wedding) – Spoiler Alert caso você não tenh lido Belo Desastre

É mais uma novela breve do que livro mesmo em si. O livro mixa capítulos na versão Travis e na versão Abby do que aconteceu após o final de Belo Desastre.

O mais legal deste é você ler o epílogo que tem no final, o qual explica o que aconteceu com Travis e Abby depois de décadas juntos e também abre a história para uma trama mais ampla que será desenvolvida ao longo dos livros dos irmãos.

Na minha opinião vale mais ser lido do que o Desastre Iminente, pois contém fatos inéditos da história de Travis e da Abby.

 

 

PARA ESTUDANTES DE INGLÊS

Os três livros têm um nível muito fácil de língua inglesa e iniciantes podem se aventurar na leitura. Lembrando sempre, claro, das dicas de leitura instrumental. Nada de ficar parando toda hora para procurar todas as palavras que não sabe no dicionário.

 

 

If you’re looking for something in the romantic movie comedy style, this book is perfect for the moment.

It will all begin when Abby and her friend America are forced to stay a few days in America’s boyfriend fraternity because the water heating system from where they live breaks. Without hot water, they find themselves kind of without alternatives, and they accept Shepley’s offer.

It turns out that in this same fraternity lives a cousin of Shepley, Travis, who is nothing more nothing less than the most beloved bad boy in college. All women want a bite of him, and they all do, or vice versa, since Travis doesn’t get attached to anyone, he just enjoys the moment.

The antipathy between Abby and Travis when they meet is notorious, and to some extent they decide that it would be impossible for anything to happen between the two, since none of them does the slightest type of the other. But is this true? Then you already understand what the book will be about, right? There’s a lot of twists and turns, specially from the main character, Abby, but we kind of know and hope for the happy ending just like we’d do in the movies.

The good thing about this book is that the author began writing several spin-offs of Travis’s brothers (he is the 5th brother of 5), and finished (apparently) the saga of all of them with the last volume called Beautiful Funeral at the end of 2016, where all the brothers and their girls come together in a story that was being constructed throughout all these books. The great story behind all the brothers begins in the epilogue of Beautiful Wedding. So, if you want story to distract yourself you’ll definitely have it with this family.

There is no way you wouldn’t want to read the following, but I would dismiss the Walking Disaster reading if possible because it contains the same story of the Beautiful Disaster. Or, you could read the two at the same time to know the two characters’ point of view about what’s going on.

 

SPOILER ALERT

I found Abby very sure of herself, with a very high self-esteem and super confident despite all the problems that you discover she has passed through in her 19 years. I don’t know if I had this impression because I was a bit insecure myself, but I don’t think it’s possible for a 19-year-old girl to be so self-confident and determined about what’s best for her as this character is.

But I loved the whole construction of the bastard who falls in love and finally is quiet for a whole young girl. After all, it may not seem like it, but every bastard slow down at some point. Just find the right person. I have seen so many guys that were not worth what they ate, not worth a dollar bill to slow down, marrying and even having children, which I super believe is the subject of the book.

 

 

Walking Disaster

Walking Disaster is Travis’s version of the story.

If you enjoy reading two points of view of the same story, it will be worth taking this book, which tells the same story of the Beautiful Disaster only from Travis’s point of view, not Abby’s.

A cool tip is to have both books, Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster and try reading the two concomitantly chapter by chapter discovering what Travis was thinking and what Abby was thinking.

Yeah, well I’d do it if I had read these tips and had not read any of the books in the series. It is very interesting to read like this.

Although it was a good read, I particularly think I could have gone without it. I found a lot more of the same, and in fact, many things that Travis thinks to me would be impossible for a man to think. (That’s the big problem for a woman writing a man’s point of view – it’s too difficult).

But, if you have enjoyed a lot Beautiful Disaster, you probably will enjoy knowing more details of the story. Anyway, I don’t think it’s a wasted reading. It is worth as a complement.

After Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster the next book is Beautiful Wedding.

 

 

A Beautiful Wedding

It is more a short novel than a book. The book alternates chapters in Travis’s version and Abby’s version of what happened after the end of Beautiful Disaster.

The coolest of this is when you read the epilogue you have at the end, which explains what happened to Travis and Abby after a decade together, and opens the story to a broader plot that will be developed throughout the brothers’ books.

In my opinion it’s worth reading more than the Walking Disaster because it contains unpublished facts from Travis and Abby’s story.
