Bela Distração – Jamie Macguire (Beautiful Oblivion)

Esse é o primeiro livro da série sobre os irmãos Maddox. Depois de Belo Desastre, onde conhecemos a história de Abby e Travis ( o irmão Maddox mais novo dos 5), neste livro conheceremos  a história de Cami e Trenton, o segundo Maddox.

As histórias dos livros são narradas sempre pelas mulheres. O que pra mim foi um ponto a favor. Achei que deu um ar mais verossímel para as histórias.

No início do livro Cami está cursando a faculdade e trabalha de bartender no Red Door à noite. Ela tem um namorado que gosta muito, mas que trabalha em um emprego do outro lado do país que consome quase todo o seu tempo, ou seja, eles não estão se vendo muito ultimamente. Em uma das noites que ela fica de folga e o namorado cancela o encontro dos dois mais uma vez ela se vê sozinha no Red Door e acaba cruzando com Trenton, antiga paixonite dos tempos de colégio.

Carente e crente que conseguirá manter uma amizade com Trenton Cami se envolve cada vez mais com esse irmão Maddox e em certo ponto terá que decidir se o que está fazendo é realmente certo, para ela, para o namorado e para Trenton.

Gostei muito da leitura. Leve, simples e que não se compromete a te entregar nada super elaborado, mas que acaba te surpreendendo nas últimas linhas. Não superou Belo Desastre mas Jamie começou a ousar mais em cenas picantes, o que achei muito interessante. Os novos livros da série inspiram bastante, se é que vocês me entendem.

Gostei bastante do livro, porém Trenton é o irmão que menos gosto de todos os Maddox. Opinião essa que foi se consolidando conforme eu fui progredindo na leitura da série e conhecendo os outros irmãos. No final do livro temos a grande surpresa de descobrir que TJ, o namorado de Cami é na verda Thomas Maddox, o irmão mais velho de Trenton, pra mim o meu Maddox preferido. Mas falaremos disso no próximo livro, que é o que conta a história dele.

 

This is the first book in the series about the Maddox brothers. After Beautiful Disaster, where we know the story of Abby and Travis (the youngest Maddox of the 5), in this book we will know the story of Cami and Trenton, the second Maddox.

The stories of these books are always told by women. Which for me was a plus. I thought it made the stories more believable.

At the beginning of the book Cami is attending college and working as a bartender at Red Door at night. She has a boyfriend who she likes a lot, but who works at a job on the other side of the country that consumes most of his time, meaning they have not seen each other much lately. On one of the nights she has a night off and her boyfriend cancels their meeting once more she finds herself alone in the Red Door and ends up meeting with Trenton, a former crush from high school days.

Needy and faithful that she will be able to maintain a friendship with Trenton Cami is more and more involved with this Maddox brother and at some point she will have to decide if what she is doing is really right, for her, for her boyfriend and for Trenton.

I really enjoyed reading it. Light, simple and it doesn’t commit to deliver you anything super elaborate, but that ends up surprising you in the last lines. It did not overcome Beautiful Disaster but Jamie began to dare more in hot scenes, which I found very interesting. The new books in the series inspire a lot, if you know what I mean.

I really enjoyed the book, but Trenton is the brother I least like of all Maddox. This opinion was consolidated as I was progressing in reading the series and getting to know the other brothers. At the end of the book we have the great surprise to discover that TJ, Cami’s boyfriend is in truth Thomas Maddox, Trenton’s oldest brother, to me my favorite Maddox. But we’ll talk about it in the next book, which tells the story of him.
