fever code and kill order

Warning needed here at the beginning because if you haven’t read any of the books in the Maze Runner series, you’ll definitely read one on this post.

So before you know more about this book, read more about the first books of the series on LiteralMentesThe Maze Runner,  The Scorch TrialsThe Death Cure,  The Kill Order and The Maze Runner Files.

I must say that in these last weeks I have read 2 books that are on my list of the best of the year, and this is one of them.

We’re talking more precisely about the last prequel that explains how everyone in the maze got there. It is the book that will connect the original trilogy with the 1st prequel released by James, Kill Order, where we learn how the solar accident that killed a large part of the planet’s population and how the Flare popped out.

In my previous post about the Kill Order I commented that we were super in doubt whether a little girl apparently immune to the Flare (Didi) that appears in the story was Tereza or not. And finally, in this book we have the confirmation that yes, it was her.

In addition to this confirmation we also get to know what Thomas’s real name was, and some facts about the lives of other characters such as Newt and Minho. But the greatest revelation, the great secret of secrets you will read only at the very end. And it’s something bombastic and that will change the perspective of the whole story. I finished the book eager to start reading the whole series again now that I know it. Seriously, never ever read this book before the others. If you do you will be completely changing the perception of the whole series.

I’m kind of suspicious even to talk about it because I really loved the story. I think James was able to answer a lot of questions the fans had in mind but kept that suspicious mood and paranoia present in the original trilogy!? It was fantastic! It is a story that is not afraid to be disgusted, salty to the reader. Life is like this, accept that it hurts less. (The boys when they are inside CRUEL question the extent to which their lives would be better off there, and even you question it. At the same time, there is always that doubt hovering in the air of how much they live is a lie set up so that they really believe there is not a better place !?)

Another thing, there is also that whole question of what the limit is when you are looking for a cure for a virus that is killing the population without control? Can we use our human beings as “guinea pigs” without their consent? Wouldn’t it be better to let nature take its course of natural selection?

I remembered a lot of what I saw in Never Let Me Go film (I still need to read the book). This book raises wild questions about humans being treated like things.

Anyway, reading more than recommended. Read them all, by the way. Perhaps of all the YA that I have read to this day, this series is one of the worthier.
