Pequenas grandes mentiras – Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies)

Que história incrível! A cada livro me apaixono mais pela Liane e estou super animada para continuar lendo todos dela.

Neste livro conhecemos três mulheres que são completamente diferentes uma da outra, no entanto contrariando todos os fatos se tornam amigas.

Madeline é uma mulher considerada por todos ao redor como forte e decidida, porém apesar de aparentemente se dar bem com o ex-marido e sua 2ª esposa, ela está chateada com o fato da filha de seu 1º casamento querer ir morar com o pai.

Celeste, mulher linda, magra, rica, mãe de gêmeos e ainda por cima com um marido que parece perfeito tem a vida que todo mundo queria ter.

As duas se aproximam e se tornam amigas de Jane, a mãe solteira que a pouco se mudou para a cidade com o filho que teve após uma aventura de apenas uma noite, quando este é acusado de bullying na escola.

As opiniões da comunidade de pais se dividem e a tensão a respeito deste assunto vai aumentando aos poucos entre as mães até culminar no dia em que alguém cai da varanda da escola durante um evento escolar e morre.

A história se desenrola mesclando capítulos onde os pais que estavam no fatídico dia dão seus depoimentos e a história das três amigas.

É interessantíssimo ver como Liane mostra os dramas familiares que nem sempre são mostrados aos olhos da sociedade, mas que existem e sempre estão lá por mais que muita gente feche os olhos para eles e só veja as partes boas das vidas das pessoas.

Também adoro o jeito com que ela explicita aqueles pensamentos torpes que todos nós temos, mas que nunca admitimos nem para nós mesmos. Liane é craque nisso!

Agora o ponto alto deste livro fica por conta do mistério de quem morreu e porquê.

Como o primeiro livro que li, terminei o final com o queixo caído pois não consegui imaginar todas as revelações que me esperavam nele.

A história virou mini série na HBO, e pelo que souber (eu ainda não vi a série) ficou sensacional.

What an incredible story! With each book I fall in love even more with Liane, and I’m super excited to keep reading all the books from her.

In this book we meet three women who are completely different from each other, however against all the odds they become friends.

Madeline is a woman considered by all around as strong and determined, but despite seemingly getting along with her ex-husband and his 2nd wife, she is upset that her first marriage’s daughter wants to move in with her father.

Celeste, beautiful thin woman, rich, mother of twins and with a husband who seems perfect has the life that everyone wants to have.

The two get closer and become friends with Jane, the single mother who has just moved to the town with her son after an adventure of just one night when he is accused of bullying at school.

The opinions of the parent community divide, and the tension about this issue gradually increases among the mothers until it culminates in the day someone falls off the school porch during a school event and dies.

The story is told mixing chapters where the parents who were on the fateful day give their testimony and the story of the three friends.

It is very interesting to see how Liane shows the family dramas that are not always shown in the eyes of society, but that exist and are always there even though many people close their eyes to them and only see the good parts of people’s lives.

I also love the way she explains those awkward thoughts we all have but never admit to ourselves. Liane is a star on this!

Now the high point of this book lies in the mystery of who died and why.

Like the first book I read, I finished the ending with my jaw dropped because I could not imagine all the revelations that were waiting for me in it.

The story turned mini-series on HBO, and as far as I know (I have not seen the series yet) it was sensational.
