O que Alice esqueceu - Liane Moriarty (What Alice Forgot)

Você pensaria as mesmas coisas? Teria as mesmas atitudes desses últimos 10 anos?

If you could get back to yourself of 10 years ago what would you do differently? Would you think the same things? Would you have the same attitudes of the last 10 years? Are you happy with everything you did during this time? Would you change anything?

Liane as always surprising us with her fantastic stories and her gift of representing little big issues from our lives.

In this book, Alice wakes up one day, after hitting her head on a gym class, thinking she’s 29 when she’s 39. She just forgot 10 years of her life! She thinks that she is pregnant with her first child and her husband is the most precious thing in her life, when in fact the Alice of 39 already has 3 children and is divorcing from her husband, and isn’t speaking with her sister, the one who was always her best friend.

Now without memory of everything that happened to get to that point, Alice will try to rescue all her relationships and along the way will reflect a lot about what she did with her life without even realizing it.

The book addresses the point of view of 2 more characters besides Alice. We also have the narrative of Elizabeth, who is her oldest sister and their “step” grandmother, who has a blog in which she writes about the events of her daily life. There are, therefore, many reflections about their lives, and what both have done with their lives in recent years. The three stories are intertwined in some way and you will find out how once you advance on our reading.

A book that deals a lot with current attitudes and how they reflect in a future that we are often not thinking we are building right now. I have been very sympathetic to Alice, and the way she reflects about how she came to be the person she is is extremely empathic. You end up feeling like one of her family in the whole process of remembering or not remembering certain things.

Once again, the final does not disappoint and despite having the lightest closure of the books I have read from her – The husband’s secret and Big Little Lies – it doesn’t lose quality. Recommended for anyone, but especially for you that already have a family formed or are in the process of having it.
