Tô me permitindo uns momentos de ócio nessas semanas festivas e especiais.

This is the kind of book that if you are about 15 years old, you MUST read. That kind of reading that although it’s not a Meg Cabot reminded me a lot of her. Light reading, uncompromising and funny. There are a lot of questions we have as young people, and since I love to revisit that time of my life, I can say that I enjoyed reading it.

Elle and Lee grew up as siblings since their mothers were best friends and both were born the same day. The two are best friends, and in school  they are the “Ferris Bueller” type of the institution. Since they are part of the  school events committee, they need an idea for a booth at one of the school events. The two then end up thinking about the idea of the kissinh booth, which ends up being a success.

It turns out that in this booth Elle will kiss Noah, Lee’s older brother, and her longtime crush, and that’s where the story begins to unfold since Noah also begins to enjoy Elle in another way. The problem is that we have a best friend brother who finds the possibility of both together very strange, and Elle will start hiding things from her best friend for the first time in life. Will this work?

Well, the premise is basically this, and I enjoyed the development of the story both in the book and in the Netflix movie, which I also watched. I believe that both illustrated well the dilemmas of Elle, the characters in general, and although the movie has been different in some points, everything was there, you know, the essence.

Speaking of The Beach House, i’s ok. It was pleasant, but you totally realize that the author was extending the story without need and that nothing really happened on it.

For those who do not know, The Beach House was sold (in Brazil) as a sequel to The Kissing Booth, but in fact we have a book that tells us the days of Elle’s vacation with Lee and Noah before Noah goes to college. So, if you read The Kissing Booth you will know that this event is inserted in the middle of the book, but without a detailed narrative of what happened in those days. Anyway, for those who enjoyed the Kissing Booth it’s worth reading it, but do not expect much because we really have nothing new besides the friendship of Elle and Lee and  Elle and Noah’s dating.

PS. People, I’m on vacation (after 9 years without being able to take these weeks off) and so I delayed the posts. I am allowing myself a few moments of idleness during these festive and special weeks.
