Big Rock – Lauren Blakely

Peguei o livro pra ler depois que vi um vídeo da Angélica Bello onde ela lia o prólogo que Spencer, o protagonista, defendia que tamanho é sim documento, e pessoal, tive q conferir o que raios teríamos na história depois de algo tão polêmico.

No fim, o tamanho é documento é o menor dos assuntos como eu imaginava. A história mesmo gira em torno do famoso clichê do acordo que vira verdade.

Spencer é um cara gatíssimo bem de vida que mora em NYC, tem uma família muito boa, pais legais e irmã também, e dirige um negócio junto com uma amiga dos tempos de faculdade, Charlotte. Os dois possuem uma rede de bares juntos. Obviamente que há de se imaginar que assim sendo o cara tem tudo e então aproveita a vida como pode. Sai com todas as mulheres que quer, pega todo mundo mesmo e não mantem nenhum relacionamento por muito tempo.

Só que Spencer sente que sua fama adquirida com esforço está ameaçando um negócio que o pai quer fechar com um senhor muito conservador. O pai de Spencer quer vender a rede de joalherias da qual é proprietário para poder viajar e curtir mais seu casamento. Tentando  ajudar o pai Spencer acaba inventando uma pequena mentira para o comprador dizendo que está namorando a amiga dos tempos de faculdade e que acabaram de ficar noivos.

O que ele não esperava era ter que prorrogar a mentira, pois agora o comprador quer sair com ambos antes de fechar o negócio e então Spencer irá convencer Charlotte a fingir com ele esse amor recém descoberto. Charlotte acaba embarcando na mentira pois quer se livrar do ex-noivo que não sai do seu pé. E aí galera temos o nosso famoso clichezão maravilhoso.

Eu garanto que o jeito que foi desenvolvido foi bem legal, então vale a pena a leitura. Se você curte romances romantiquinhos do tipo comédia melhor ainda, vai se divertir mais.

Para o primeiro que li da Blakely tive uma surpresa agradável. O livro é bem OK, nada que supere Elle Kennedy e Kendal Rayan na minha opinião, mas tá ali bem perto. Vejo potencial. Ou seja, recomendo a leitura sim 😉

I took the book to read after I saw a video of Angélica Bello where she read the prologue where Spencer, the main male character, defends that size is indeed important, and people, I had to check what the  hell we would have on this story after something so controversial.

In the end, size is the smallest of subjects as I imagined. The story itself is about the famous cliché of the agreement that turns truth.

Spencer is a very good looking guy who lives in NYC, has a very good family, nice parents and sister, and runs a business with a college friend Charlotte. The two have a bar franchise together. Obviously you have to imagine that having everything the guy enjoy life as best he can. He goes out with all women he wants, he get laid whenever he wants, and he does not keep any relationship for long.

Except that Spencer feels that his fame gained with much effort is threatening a business that his father wants to close with a very conservative gentleman. Spencer’s father wants to sell the jewelry franchise he owns so he can retire, travel, and enjoy his marriage more. Trying to help his father, Spencer ends up making up a little lie to the buyer saying he’s dating his college friend and they’ve just gotten engaged.

What he did not expect was to have to extend the lie, because now the buyer wants to go out with both before closing the deal, and then Spencer will have convince Charlotte to fake this newly discovered love with him. Charlotte ends up embarking on the lie because she wants to get rid of her ex-boyfriend who doesn’t stop trying to get back. And then we have our wonderful famous agreement cliché.

I guarantee that the way it was developed was pretty cool, so it’s worth reading. If you enjoy romantic with a bit of comedy better,  you’ll have more fun.

For the first book I read from Blakely I had a pleasant surprise. The book is very OK, nothing that surpasses Elle Kennedy and Kendal Rayan in my opinion, but it is very close. I see potential. So, I recommend reading for sure 😉
