Querido Vizinho – Penelope Ward (Neighbor Dearest)

Minha gente, peguei o livro pelo Kindle Unlimited, que resolvi testar finalmente, totalmente sem saber que era o spin-off do Meu querido meio irmão (título péssimo, história maravilhosa). E eis que me deparo com um livro melhor que o primeiro, sério, eu gostei mais desse! Total história do pegar sem dar nada e se apaixonar pelo livro.

Com esse aqui a Penelope já arrumou lugar cativo nas minhas preferências, e então lerei mais e mais coisas dela quando puder. Vou procurar por mais títulos no Unlimited pra começar.

Falemos então da história, e se vocês leram o Meu querido meio irmão sabem que Alec deixou a namorada que ele tinha, Chelsea, para ficar com Greta, sua irmã de criação.

Super chateada e traumatizada com o rompimento abrupto de um relacionamento que ela tinha como certo ela muda de apartamento assim que seu contrato vence, e nesse novo prédio irá começar a reparar em seu vizinho de porta, que mais tarde ela descobrirá ser o dono do prédio. Ele é muito parecido com Alec, porém mais gato, e artista, pois ele pinta quadros e tudo mais.

Chelsea o apelida de artista irritadinho, e vocês irão entender o porquê quando lerem.

Os dois começam a interagir por conta do barulho dos cachorros de Damien, sim esse é o nome dele, que não deixam Chelsea dormir direito. Mas a relação deles irá evoluir mesmo quando ela descobrir que ele está ouvindo todas as conversas que ela tem com sua psicóloga por telefone, já que há um buraco na parede entre seus apartamentos.

De início obviamente Chelsea fica furiosa, mas Damien se provará um bom amigo e conselheiro, e em pouco tempo ele acabará tomando o lugar da psicóloga já que Chelsea se verá mais inclinada a seguir os seus conselhos do que os dela.

O grande problema dessa amizade é que ela é mais que uma amizade pois tanto Chelsea quando Damien se sentem atraídos um pelo outro, mas toda vez que eles tem uma oportunidade de levar isso adiante Damien se recusa dizendo que não pode ser nada além de amigo.

Chelsea não conseguirá entender o real motivo da recusa, assim como nós, que de início ficamos bem putos com Damien por isso, mas iremos descobrir o que o impede de levar tudo adiante, e não será por ele. Chelsea vai descobrir de outra forma, e minha gente, não queria estar na pele dessa mulher.

Só posso dizer que é um motivo bem relevante, e que Chelsea terá que ser uma pessoa muito forte para conseguir que essa relação aconteça e dê certo.

Adianto que você pensará que a história vai para um rumo que não ela não vai. Há um plot twist ali que foi muito bem colocado. E eu achei o ritmo da história bem marcado por ele.

Não tem como cansar na leitura e já digo de antemão que se você pegar isso sem poder ler por algumas horas vai sofrer querendo voltar para saber o que raios vai acontecer. É aquele livro que se deixar você numa sentada (eu quase li!)

Gostei demais do desfecho (que sim, é feliz! caso vcs estejam com o coração na mão querendo saber) e estou torcendo para termos outro livro contando a história da irmã de Chelsea. Quero muito! Quem sabe.

People, I picked up the book from Kindle Unlimited, which I decided to test finally, totally unaware that it was a spin-off  from Step Brother Dearest. And here I come across a better book than the first one, really, I liked this one better! The kind of story I gave nothing and later fell in love with the book.

With this one Penelope has already taken captive place in my preferences, so I’ll read more and more of her books when I can. I’ll look for more titles on Unlimited to start with.

So let’s talk about the story, and if you read Step Brother Dearest, you know that Alec left his girlfriend Chelsea to be with Greta, his step sister.

Super upset and traumatized by the abrupt breakup of a relationship she had for granted Chelsea changes apartments as soon as her contract expires, and in this new building she will start noticing her next door neighbor, who she will later discover owns the building . He is very similar to Alec, but more handsome, and artist, because he paints pictures and everything.

Chelsea calls him a “grumpy artist” (not sure if they use this term original), and you’ll understand why when you read.

The two begin to interact because of the noise made by Damien’s dogs, and yes, that is his name, which do not let Chelsea sleep well. But their relationship will be developed when she finds out he is listening to every conversation she has with her psychologist over the phone, as there is a hole in the wall between their apartments.

Obviously at first Chelsea is furious, but Damien will prove to be a good friend and counselor, and soon he will eventually take the place of the psychologist as Chelsea will be more inclined to follow his advice than hers.

The big problem with this friendship is that it is more than a friendship because both Chelsea and Damien are attracted to each other, but every time they have an opportunity to push it forward Damien refuses and tell he can be nothing but a friend.

Chelsea is not able to understand the real reason for the refusal, just like we don’t and get pretty pissed at Damien for that, but we’ll find out what keeps him from taking it all along, and it won’t be from him. Chelsea will find out in a different way, and people, I didn’t want to be in this woman’s skin.

I can only say that it is a very relevant reason, and that Chelsea will have to be a very strong person to make this relationship happen and work out.

I advance that you will think that the story goes in a way that it does not go. There is a plot twist there that was very well placed. And I thought the pace of the story well marked by it.

There is no way to get tired in reading and I say beforehand that if you catch it without being able to read for a few hours you will suffer wanting to come back to know what the hell will happen. It’s that book that leaves you sitting down (I almost read it at once!)

I really enjoyed the outcome (yes, it’s happy! If you guys have your heart in hand wondering) and I’m hoping to have another book telling the story of Chelsea’s sister. I really want! Who knows.
