Motivos para não gostar de um livro – Reasons to dislike a book

Eu e minha convidada homônima Mi, fizemos uma lista de motivos que nos fazem desgostar de um livro.

Aqui no post falarei mais dos meus motivos, mas se vocês quiserem ver o bate papo e as opiniões da Mi fiquem a vontade para assistirem.

Um dos principais motivos para que eu não curta tanto um livro quando o leio é quando o autor dá indícios de que algo será solucionado até o final da história e deixa o povo a ver navios quando chega o final. Lembrando que não estou falando de livros com finais abertos no geral, já que eu gosto muito de finais abertos quando estes fazem sentido com toda narrativa apresentada previamente. Falo sim de alguma situação apresentada que ficam sem ser resolvida ou personagens esquecidos no churrasco no meio da história.

O que me leva a falar do principal motivo para eu desgostar de um livro que é eu ter a sensação de que o autor está brincando com a minha inteligência, o que geralmente acontece quando fatos não críveis para o cenário apresentado na história aconteçam, ou seja, o problema não é a história ter acontecimentos fantásticos, e sim estes não fazerem o menor sentido, ou então serem extremamente rasos para a trama apresentada. Um exemplo que sempre dou de um caso assim é o último livro da série Divergente, que deixou muito a desejar diante de tudo que apresentou no início da trilogia.

Também não curto muito livros que tenham muita descrição. Sempre prefiro livros mais sucintos nesse quesito, ou então aqueles em que a descrição é deixada completamente na sua imaginação como em Os 13 porquês.

Personagens muito bons ou então muito maus sem motivos para tal também me irritam profundamente hoje em dia. Acho que se sei que o livro é mais infantil até dou um desconto, mas isso é inaceitável para mim em uma história que seja escrita para um público adulto. Nós somos uma mistura de bem e mal e quanto mais adulto você é mais você entende isso.

E por último o motivo menos grave ao meu ver porém que pode ser extremamente irritante em alguns casos que é o autor encher linguiça na história antes de finalizá-la. Digo que esse é o motivo menos grave pois se a enrolação fizer algum sentido para a história eu até vou relevando e tentando ler mais rapidamente, mas quando a história apresenta atitudes completamente fora do que vem sendo construído apenas para criar mais uma desventura e adiar a conclusão do final, daí eu fico bem puta e acabo pegando implicância com o livro no geral.

One of the main reasons I don’t enjoy a book so much when I read it is when the author gives hints that something will be solved by the end of the story and leaves people with nothing when the end comes. Remembering that I am not talking about books with open endings in general, since I like open endings very much when they make sense with the narrative previously presented. I speak of some situation presented that is left unresolved or forgotten characters  in the middle of the story.

Which brings me to the main reason why I dislike a book when I have a feeling that the author is playing with my intelligence, which usually happens when facts not credible to the scenario presented in the story happen, so, the problem is not that the story has fantastic events, but when they don’t make any sense, or are extremely shallow for the plot presented. One example I always give of such a case is the last book in the Divergent series, which left much to be desired in light of all that is presented at the beginning of the trilogy.

I also don’t like books that have a lot of description. I always prefer more succinct books in this matter, or those in which the description is left completely in your imagination such as 13 Reasons Why.

Very good or very bad characters for no reason also annoy me deeply these days. I think if I know the book is more childish I give a discount, but that’s unacceptable to me in a story that’s written for an adult audience. We are a mix of good and evil and the more adult you are the more you understand that.

And lastly the least serious reason in my view though that can be extremely annoying too in some cases is when the author prevents the end by filling the story with unnecessary happenings before finalizing it. I say that this is the least serious reason because if the stuff inserted makes any sense to the story I will even be  trying to read more quickly, but when the story has attitudes completely out of what is being built just to create another misfortune and postpone the conclusion of the ending, I get pretty pissed off and end up getting bored with the book overall.

Don’t do it authors! Stuffing the book with unnecessary parts is boring as hell! Less is more! Hehehe
