A lista de Brett – Lori Nelson Spielman (The Life List)

Que livro fantástico meus amigos!

Eu peguei pra ler por indicação da minha amiga Ari e não me decepcionei. Assim como o Uma curva no tempo, ele tem uma pegada reflexão sobre o que você anda fazendo da sua vida, só que de uma maneira bem mais light. O final desse é um final bem feliz

Nós iremos acompanhar a história de Brett logo após o falecimento da sua mãe. Quando a família vai abrir o testamento, Brett descobre que a mãe deixou tudo para os irmãos e a direção da empresa onde trabalha para a cunhada e ela ficou sem nada. Ela só irá receber sua parte se no próximo ano conseguir completar todos os itens de uma lista que a mãe deixou para ela. Caso contrário, sua parte será toda doada.

Quando Brett vê a lista descobre que ela própria a escreveu quando tinha 14 anos e depois a jogou fora. Detalhe que Brett tem mais de 30 anos, ou seja, essa lista é bemmm velha e a vida de Brett tomou um rumo completamente contrário a muitos itens nela descritos.

A lista contém itens como comprar um cachorro, voltar a dar aulas, fazer as pazes com uma amiga de infância, participar de um show de stand up, ter um filho, fazer as pazes com o pai e até mesmo ter um cavalo. Sim, sim, são itens muito diversos e muito loucos, e Brett vai ter que se esforçar um bocado para conseguir cumpri-los.

Brad, o advogado da mãe de Brett, se compromete a acompanhá-la em suas tentativas de  completar os items, e os dois acabam se tornando bons amigos. A cada item cumprido há uma pequena surpresa esperando por Brett, e é Brad quem sempre lhe entrega essa surpresa.

Devo dizer que embora eu não tivesse nada a ver com Brett eu me senti um pouco Brett no meio dessa busca toda, e talvez por isso eu tenha gostado tanto do livro.

Com certeza recomendo de olhos fechados e a única crítica que tenho a respeito dele é ter faltado mais história no final. A gente super fica esperando mais dessas surpresas e também mais sobre o último acontecimento. Vocês entenderão quando lerem 😉

What a fantastic book my friends!

I received the tip from my friend Ari (who also lent me the book)and I wasn’t disappointed. Just like Fractured, it has a catchy reflection on what you’ve been doing with your life, but in a much lighter way. The end of this is a very happy ending

We will follow Brett’s story shortly after his mother’s passing. When the family opens the will, Brett learns that her mother left everything to her brothers and the direction of the company where she works for her sister-in-law and she was left with nothing. She will only get her part if in the next year she can complete all the items on a list her mother left her. Otherwise, her part will be all donated.

When Brett sees the list, she discovers that she wrote it herself when she was 14 and then threw it away. Important info is that Brett is over 30 years old, so this list is very old and Brett’s life took a completely opposite direction to many items described in it.

The list contains things like buying a dog, going back to school, making up with a childhood friend, attending a stand up show, having a child, making up with her father, and even having a horse. Yes, yes, they are very diverse and very crazy items, and Brett will have to work hard to accomplish them.

Brad, Brett’s mother’s attorney, pledges to accompany her in her attempts to complete the items, and the two end up becoming good friends. With each item completed there is a small surprise waiting for Brett, and it is Brad who always gives her that surprise.

I have to say that although I had nothing to do with Brett I felt a little Brett in the middle of this whole quest, and maybe that’s why I enjoyed the book so much.

I definitely recommend with my eyes closed and the only criticism I have about it is that we needed more story in the end. We are expected more of these surprises Brett has after an accomplishement and also more about the last event. You will understand when you read;)
