Pequenos incêndios por toda parte – Celeste NG (Little Fires Everywhere)

Primeiro livro que leio da Celeste, adorei e já quero ler o próximo. Este em particular estava na minha lista fazia tempo e eu só decidi lê-lo agora para aproveitar a hype da série que acabou de sair no Hulu lá nos EUA.

Por este motivo fiz um sessão com spoilers no vídeo que gravei, para que depois vocês ou eu mesma possa revisitar e comparar o livro com a série.

E como eu também não assisti a série ainda, aqui falaremos exclusivamente da história do livro então.

Nós teremos a história de duas famílias sendo relatadas.Quando Mia e sua filha Pearl se mudam para uma casa de aluguel em Shaker Heights em Ohio, elas acabam conhecendo e se envolvendo com os Richardson.

Pearl fica super amiga de Moody, que eventualmente acaba a apresentando para Lexie, Trip e Izzy, seus irmãos.

Peal começa a frequentar a casa dos Richardson, e em determinado momento Mia começa a trabalhar na casa deles como uma maneira de manter um olho em Pearl.

Izzy irá frequentar a casa de Mia e Pearl também para aprender como fazer arte com Mia. Ou seja, a história mistura muito bem as histórias dos personagens, e sem querer nós nos vemos entretidos por essas diversas linhas de narrativa.

Como o livro é narrado em terceira pessoa nós ficamos sabendo de todo background de cada personagem, seus pensamentos e  sentimentos, o que muitas vezes acaba justificando para gente suas atitudes na história e o que faz com que você sinta mais empatia por todos já que não há certos e errados, apenas diferentes perspectivas.

Moody vai se apaixonar por Pearl, que vai gostar de Trip. Lexie tem um namorado e um vida toda planejada, mas um acontecimento inesperado irá mudar a sua vida completamente. Izzy nunca se sentiu pertecendo a família e acaba encontrando em Mia a mãe e musa inspiradora que nunca teve. Elena tem a vida dos sonhos porém não consegue superar o fato de que Mia não precisa de nada do que ela tem para viver. Já Mia esconde um grande segredo que é o real motivo de ela nunca parar em um lugar muito tempo.

E um determinado acontecimento entre uma amiga de Mia e uma amiga de Elena, fará Elena começar a investigar a vida de Mia. Descobertas serão feitas. Mal entendidos acontecerão e meus amigos, o final disso tudo eu juro que não previa. Aquele tipo de leitura que vale cada página e todo o seu tempo gasto.

First book I read from Celeste, I loved it and I already want to read the next one. This one in particular was on my list for a long time and I just decided to read it now because of the series hype that was just released on Hulu in the USA.

Because of it, I recorded a session with spoilers on the video I made, so that later you or I can revisit and compare the book with the series.

And since I haven’t watched the series yet, here we will talk exclusively about the story of the book then.

We will have the story of two families being reported. When Mia and her daughter Pearl move into a rental house in Shaker Heights, Ohio, they end up meeting and getting involved with the Richardson.

Pearl becomes super friends with Moody, who eventually ends up introducing her to Lexie, Trip and Izzy, his siblings.

Peal starts spending time into the Richardson, and at some point Mia starts working at their home as a way to keep an eye on Pearl.

Izzy will also visit Mia and Pearl’s house to learn how to make art with Mia. In other words, the story mixes the stories of the characters very well, and unintentionally we find ourselves entertained by these different narrative lines.

As the book is narrated in third person, we learn about the background of each character, their thoughts and feelings, which often justifies their attitudes in the story and what makes you feel more empathy for everyone since you don’t think there’s a right and wrong, just different perspectives.

Moody will fall in love with Pearl, who will like Trip. Lexie has a boyfriend and a whole life planned, but an unexpected event will change her life completely. Izzy never felt like she belonged to her family and ends up finding in Mia the inspiring mother and muse she never had. Elena has the life of her dreams but she can’t get over the fact that Mia doesn’t need anything she has to live. Mia, on the other hand, hides a big secret that is the real reason she never stops in a place for a long time.

And a certain event between a friend of Mia and a friend of Elena, will make Elena start investigating Mia’s life. Discoveries will be made. Misunderstandings will happen and my friends, the end of it all I swear I did not foresee. That kind of reading that is worth every page and all your time spent.
