F*ck Love – Tarryn Fisher
Se você viu você irá me entender nesse comentário.
Since we read Tarryn and Colleen’s Never Never at the book club, we’ve been curious to read something from Tarryn. This was a book that Talita found on sale at Saraiva, and it was for this reason that we chose it to be the first solo contact with the author.
And guys, antagonistic feelings prevent me from giving a more accurate verdict to the book, because at the same time that I loved the way Tarryn writes and couldn’t stop reading, I felt deeply bored with the protagonist and frustrated with the ending of the story. And the worst thing is that the frustration did not come from the fact that what I wanted in the beginning did not happen, but that it happened, only at a time in the story that I thought that this specific ending would not fit. It was the same feeling I had when I watched the end of How I met your mother, the TV series. If you saw it you will understand me in this comment.
But let’s talk a little bit about the story, which starts in a totally intriguing way with Helena having a dream so clear that it seemed like reality. In that dream she was married to Kit, and had two children. She was an artist with published books, and very successful. She and Kit had a super fiery and loving marriage.
When she wakes up she can’t believe everything she saw, mainly because Kit is her best friend’s boyfriend, and she herself has a boyfriend for years, and just graduated in accounting, which has nothing to do with arts. And so, she tries to ignore the dream for a while.
And I say try because things will start to happen to Kit, that will make her wonder if only she had that dream or not. For you to have an idea, one of the bizarre facts that happens is that she finds out that her boyfriend was cheating on her, when she already knew that it would happen by the dream.
This whole mystery makes you very curious to understand this whole thing with Kit and how she will perhaps end up working with arts.
Because yes, people, she will get involved with Kit, this is a consolidated fact in the story.
And here making a comment with SPOILER, I believe that at the end of the book we end up understanding that a large part of what happened was due to the attitudes that Helena herself was taking and not because of the dream directly. Perhaps the dream acted as a trigger for her internal desires, you know, I was thinking about it a lot when I finished reading
