Sério, a gente fica apegada a senhorinha.

This was the type of book that I only ended up reading this year because of the Literalmentes book club, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. What a fantastic book!

I thought I would enjoy reading it because a lot of people I know liked it, I just didn’t think I would like it so much. It ended up becoming one of the best readings of the year and  I only read it now in early December. I devoured it. I read in two days because I couldn’t stop reading.

The book brings the story of a very famous actress who in her early 80s decides to tell her life story (the real story) to a certain journalist.

From the beginning of the story, we know that Evelyn has some connection with this journalist to demand that she, and only she, write her biography, and this is one of the coolest mysteries you keep trying to discover throughout the story.

The other part of the mystery is to discover the real life of Evelyn Hugo and what really happened in the 7 weddings she has had. Who was her true love among these 7 husbands and anyway, what was going on behind the scenes of every movie or controversy that she got into life.

Seriously, we get attached to the lady. She becomes a bit of a counselor full of life lessons as she tells her story. And it is not the type of advice to do because it is right, quite the opposite actually. Which for me makes the story even more real and makes us become even more attached to it.

One of the pleasant surprises this year, I am happy to have read it at this time and I will definitely recommend reading it to everyone I know. So read it and I assure you will not regret it.
