O Duque e eu – Julia Quinn (The Duke and I) #1 Bridgertons

Estou apaixonadíssima por esta história e diferente de outras vezes posso dizer que a série é 100% responsável pelo meu amor.

Eu resolvi ver a série antes de ler o livro e acho que acertei, pois a série traz mais conteúdo do que temos na história do livro e pra mim foi bem mais interessante de acompanhar. No livro o foco é quase que totalmente em Daphne e Simon, então ficar sabendo um pouco mais de cada personagem já nessa primeira temporada foi bem legal.

A história vai girar em torno de um acordo que Simon (recém chegado em Londres para receber o seu título de Duque de Hastings do finado pai) faz com Daphne.

Ela está debutando e a procura de um marido porém sem muito sucesso, e cansada de conversas e pretendentes que não levam a nada acaba aceitando fingir que Simon está lhe fazendo a corte para assim chamar a atenção de mais pretendentes. Simon por sua vez consegue então ficar sem muitas mães e filhas lhe enchendo o saco pois todos irão que ele já está fora do mercado.

Acontece que obviamente Daphne e Simon vão começar a gostar um do outro e o que começou como um acordo falso vai acabar virando algo bem real. Ai, adoro esses acordos que acabam virando verdade…um dos meus clichês favoritos.

O livro é fantástico, o texto muito bom e fluído e você realmente não consegue parar de ler. A série por sua vez vicia deste mesmo jeito. Eu não conseguia parar de assistir.

Na série a história é basicamente a mesma com alguns ajustes. Daphne na série está cheia de pretendentes e quer parar de ser o centro das atenções assim como Simon, então o acordo gira mais em torno disso. Sem contar que com a adição do personagem da rainha, o casal vai ter algumas interações que vão envolver ela.

Eu AMEI o ator que fez o Simon na série e como li o livro depois não consegui imaginá-lo de outra forma.  Aliás, pra mim descrições físicas em livros são bem secundárias viu, eu nunca me ligo mto a descrições. Adoro usar a imaginação. Acho legal quando apenas uma coisinha ou outra é mencionada assim me instiga a imaginar a situação e os personagens quase do zero.

I decided to see the series before reading the book and I think I got it right, because the series brings more content than we have in the story of the book and for me it was much more interesting to follow. In the book the focus is almost entirely on Daphne and Simon, so getting to know a little more about each character in this first season was really cool.

The story will revolve around an agreement that Simon (just arrived in London to receive his title as Duke of Hastings from his late father) makes with Daphne.

She is debuting and looking for a husband but without much success, and tired of conversations and suitors that lead to nothing ends up accepting to pretend that Simon is making her court so as to attract the attention of more suitors. Simon, on the other hand, manages to be without many mothers and daughters, annoying him because everyone will know that he is already out of the market.

It turns out that obviously Daphne and Simon are going to start liking each other and what started out as a fake deal is going to turn into something very real. Oh, I love these deals that turn out to be true … one of my favorite clichés.

The book is fantastic, the text is very smooth and fluid and you really can’t stop reading. The series is addictive in the same way. I couldn’t stop watching.

In the series the story is basically the same with some adjustments. Daphne in the series is full of suitors and wants to stop being the center of attention as well as Simon, so the deal revolves more around that. Not to mention that with the addition of the queen’s character, the couple will have some interactions that will involve her.

I LOVED the actor who played Simon in the series and as I read the book afterwards I couldn’t imagine him any other way. As a matter of fact, for me physical descriptions in books are quite secondary, you see, I never connect to descriptions. I love to use my imagination. I think it’s cool when there’s only one little thing or two mentioned so it instigates me to imagine the situation and the characters almost from scratch.
