O visconde que me amava – Julia Quinn (The Viscount Who Loved Me) #2 Os Bridgertons

Com certeza o melhor dos dois que já li. Quem diria que após ver a série primeiro eu ainda iria simpatizar com o Anthony em algum grau.

Confesso que agora estou bem curiosa e ansiosa pra ver toda a história dele com a Kate nas telinhas.

No livro os eventos se passam 1 ano depois da história do primeiro pois Anthony decide que precisa encontrar finalmente uma esposa, mesmo que ele nunca a ame já que está ficando “velho” para os padrões da época e ele tem certeza que irá morrem quando chegar aos 38 anos. Sim, nós teremos uma boa noção dos pensamentos dele. Todo o fardo da obrigação que ele carrega com a morte precoce do pai, e também todo trauma com relação a isso (essa questão dos 38 anos inclusa).

Durante a temporada de festas de Londres ele conhece as duas irmãs da família Sheffield e vê em Edwina, a moça que todos os homens andam cobiçando uma boa canditada para esposa. Porém para que ele consiga a permissão de cortejá-la ele precisa da aprovação da irmã dela, Kate. E Kate simplesmente não gosta dele. Primeiro porque ela conhecia sua fama de libertino das colunas de Lady Whistledown, e segundo porque ele mesmo acaba desafiando Kate de maneiras que ela tem certeza que tudo que leu era verdade.

Para mim ficou a impressão que Julia se inspirou muito em A Megera Domada de Shakespeare para construir essa história, e como bem sabemos teremos aí então uma bela história de ódio para amor sendo desenvolvida.

Anthony vai provocar e desafiar Kate de todas as maneiras que conseguir simplesmente porque não consegue evitar, algo nela provoca sentimentos que ele nunca teve antes. E por conta de um acidente relacionado ao trauma de Anthony com abelhas, ele e Kate vai ter que acabar casando contra a vontade. Mas será mesmo que foi contra a vontade?

Passei um pouco de raiva com o Anthony? Passei! Mas o tanto de risada e diversão que tive acabou compensando. Ansiosa para ler o próximo e continuarei relatando o que achei de cada um dos livros da série assim como já fiz com O Duque e eu.

Certainly the best of the two I’ve read so far. Who knew that after seeing the series first I would still sympathize with Anthony to some degree.

I confess that now I am very curious and anxious to see his whole story with Kate on TV.

In this book, the events take place 1 year after the first book, when Anthony decides that he must finally find a wife, even though he might never love her since he is getting “old” by the standards of the time and he is sure that he will die when he turns 38 years old. Yes, we will have a good sense of his thoughts. All the burden of the obligation he carries with his father’s early death, and also all the trauma related to it (this 38-year-old issue included).

During the London holiday season, he meets the two sisters of the Sheffield family and sees in Edwina, the girl that all men are after, a good wife candidate. However, in order for him to get permission to court her, he needs the approval of her sister, Kate. And Kate just doesn’t like him. First because she knew his libertine fame thru Lady Whistledown’s columns, and second because he himself ends up challenging Kate in ways that she is sure that everything she read was true.

I had the impression that Julia was inspired a lot by Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew to build this story, and as we well know there will then be a beautiful story of hate to love being developed.

Anthony will tease and challenge Kate in every way he can, simply because he can’t help it, something about her causes feelings he never had before. And because of an accident related to Anthony’s trauma with bees, he and Kate will have to end up marrying against their will. But was it really against their will?

Did I get a little angry with Anthony? For sure! But the amount of laughter and fun I had ended up paying off. Looking forward to reading the next one and I will continue to report what I thought of each of the books in the series as I already did with The Duke And I.
