The Rookie – Kendall Ryan #3 Looking to Score

Esta série ainda está me surpreendendo. Todos os três livros lançados até agora (The Rebel, The Rival e The Rookie) são maravilhosos e de aquecer o coração! E The Rookie mantém essa tradição.

Teremos a história de um novo jogador dos Titans, Logan Tate, que faz uma grande asneira e é suspenso nos próximos oito jogos. E se ele quiser voltar aos eixos e a equipe, além da suspensão, precisa também do OK de um psicólogo desportivo.

Porém tudo o que ele faz é voltar para a casa da sua família nas montanhas do Colorado, onde eles têm um rancho, e onde a sua família ainda está de luto pelo seu pai que faleceu recentemente.

Isso nos leva a Summer, a nossa psicóloga. Ela está no início da sua carreira e, devido à oportunidade que tem de ter um jogador de hóquei famoso como paciente, acaba por aterrissar no Colorado para fazer o tratamento onde Logan está.

Mas Logan, ainda reticente em ser analisado, não fala com Summer de início. O que levará ela a conhecer a sua família antes de o conhecer, e deixará uma grande impressão nela, pois ela realmente está muito  só na sua vida pessoal.

Quando tiverem a oportunidade de se conhecerem melhor, os dois começarão a crescer no coração um do outro, porque eles têm UM MUITO em comum e estes pontos em comum trarão proximidade à sua relação.

Há uma coisa hilária que a mãe de Logan faz, que também traz esta proximidade ao casal, mas eu não a estragarei dizendo nada (leiam o livro pessoal!)

Confesso que estava super receosa de como Kendall trataria toda esta relação médico-paciente sobre a história e como o casal ficaria bem para poder estar junto, e devo dizer que ela foi bem sucedida com a explicação apresentada. Não me senti desconfortável com quaisquer atitudes tomadas e isso apenas me confirma como Kendall é boa e atenciosa com as seus personagens e suas histórias.

Isto é definitivamente uma leitura obrigatória para qualquer pessoa que queira um romance acolhedor, bem escrito e muito bom. Além disso, faça um favor a si mesmo e leia os dois primeiros livros da série antes. Este é um livro standalone como os outros, mas as histórias são tão boas quanto esta, por isso é um win-win-win.

This series is still surprising me. All the three books released so far (The Rebel, The rival and The rookie) are amazing and so heart warming! And The Rookie keeps the good tradition.

It brings us a story of a new player from the Titans, Logan Tate, that screws up big and gets suspended for the next eight games. And if he wants to be back on track and the team, besides the suspension he needs to get and OK to be back from a sports psychologist first.

But all that he do is to go back to his family’s place in the Colorado montains, where they have a ranch, and where his fmaily is still grieving for his father who passed away recently.

That leads us to Summer, our psychologist. She is in the beginning of her career and because of the oportunity she gets to have a famous hockey player as a patient, she ends up landing in Colorado to take the treatment where Logan is.

But Logan, still reticent about being analysed, won’t talk to Summer at first. Which will lead Summer to get to know his family before getting to know him, and will leave quite an impression on her because she is really lonely in her personal life.

Once they have the chance to know each other better, they start to grow in each other’s hearts, because they have A LOT in common and these points in common will bring closeness to their relationship.

There’s an hilarious thing that Logan’s mom do, which also bring this closeness to the couple, but I won’t spoil it by telling anything (go read it, guys!)

I confess a was super afraid of how Kendall would treat all this doctor-patient relationship on the story and how the couple would be OK to be together, and I must say she nailed it with the explanation presented. I did not feel unconfortable with any atitudes taken and that only confirms to me how good and caring Kendall is with her characters and stories.

This is definitely a must read to anybody who wants a cozy, well-written and cute romance. Also, do a favor to yourself and read the first two books of the series before. This one is a stand-alone as the others but the stories are as good as this one is, so it’s a win-win-win.
