Angelina has rheumatoid arthritis and because of it she can’t walk without crutches. She is a translator and hardly ever leaves her home because of her condition and all the pain she constantly feels.

One day after her best friend Lila’s invite, she goes out with her and Manuela to a restaurant, and there she will meet Valentine. Valentine tries to ask her to dance but she denies it because she can’t and since he doesn’t see any crutches he ends up thinking that she just didn’t want to dance because she said she had a boyfriend.

The days go by and Angelina keeps thinking about Valentine, but her not-so-friendly friend Manuela too, and knowing that he has a gym, she ends up enrolling there to hit on him. Valentine, thinking that Angelina has a boyfriend ends up getting involved with Manuela, but the whole lie ends up being discovered and Valentine and Angelina will have a chance when he finds out the truth.

At first Angelina does not want to accept anything with Valentine, since she has already been hurt by past relationships and knows that it is difficult for the person who stays with someone with the disease that she has to endure the whole routine that comes with her. But Valentine is determined and he will not give up so easily.

Although I loved Nana’s first book I read, this one certainly became my favorite. The characters are captivating, the story of Angelina, all her courage. Valentine’s strength and love. Lila’s tenderness and affection. We have a novelistic reading climate, full of ups and downs, twists and turns. That story that will make you spend good hours in the company of these characters.
I definitely recommend reading it, and if you read Além do Olhar you have a 100% chance of loving this story too.
