Um dos melhores lidos em 2021, eu fiquei simplesmente o ano todo pensando nessa história, que embora curta tem um impacto inversamente proporcional.

O melhor da experiência para mim foi que Taylor consegue te enganar do começo ao fim. Você pensa que tá entendendo tudo que está acontecendo, mas não meu amigo, você não está! E na boa, meu queixo caiu quando terminei os últimos parágrafos.

Pra começar o conto é todo escrito em formato de cartas que começam a ser trocadas entre dois personagens.

Carrie e David começam a trocar cartas pois descobrem que marido e mulher de ambos estão tendo um caso. David é professor e tem 3 filhos, e Carrie, casada com um médico, não consegue ter filhos e seu marido a culpa por isso.

Ambos irão encontrar consolo nas palavras um do outro passar conseguirem passar por essa situação, que está acontecendo ali pelos anos 70 mais ou menos, onde divórcio ainda não era tão comum como hoje em dia.

E essa proximidade vai ser levada a um step a mais pois sabendo eles os dias que os conjuges se encontram, eles também começam a combinar de se encontrar nos mesmo dias.

Daí pra frente é só imaginar pessoal, já que essa proximidade deles vai gerar aí muito pano para manga..

One of the best reads in 2021, I was simply left thinking all year about this story, which although short has an inversely proportional impact.

The best part of the experience for me was that Taylor manages to fool you from beginning to end. You think you understand everything that is going on, but no, my friend, you don’t! And my jaw dropped when I finished the last paragraphs.

To begin with, the whole story is written in the format of letters that begin to be exchanged between two characters.

Carrie and David start exchanging letters because they discover that their husband and wife are having an affair. David is a teacher and has 3 children, and Carrie, married to a doctor, is unable to have children and her husband blames her for this.

Both will find solace in each other’s words to get through this situation, which is happening in the 1970s or so, when divorce was not as common as it is today.

And this closeness will be taken a step further because, knowing the days that the spouses meet, they also start to arrange to meet on the same days.

From then on it is just a matter of imagination, since this proximity of theirs is going to generate a lot of issues.
