That One About MEG CABOT / Aquele sobre a Meg Cabot

Meg Cabot é definitivamente uma das minhas escritoras preferidas. Não só por todos os livros que já li, mas também por sua história. Quanto mais leio a respeito dela, mas fã eu fico.
Eu comecei a ler os livros dela por intermédio de uma amiga a qual eu me correspondia sempre pela internet na época de faculdade a pelo menos 10 anos atrás.
O primeiro livro que li dela foi Avalon High, e posso dizer que minha vida com respeito a Idade Média e lenda do Rei Arthur se dividem em antes de Meg e depois de Meg. O livro conseguiu me fazer gostar de uma parte da história que eu sempre odiei e tinha fadiga só de pensar em estudar ou conhecer mais. Meg conseguiu me fazer gostar tanto de rei Arthur, que após ler Avalon High eu criei coragem e li As Brumas de Avalon, livro maxi mega legal para quem adora lendas arthurianas (e que merece post a parte neste blog).
Mas voltando a Meg, o segundo livro que li dela, O Garoto da Casa ao Lado foi tão legal quanto o primeiro, e enfim, me fez definitivamente virar fã da mulher.
Foi então que procurei mais a respeito de sua vida, e descobri que ela, como tantas outras pessoas nessa vida, não imaginava que acabaria escrevendo livros. Ela fez faculdade pra ser ilustradora, só que a vida a foi levando para outro lado que não a carreira que ela havia cursado na faculdade. Tão comum né!?
Fez um curso aqui, outro ali, escreveu um livrinho e foi atrás de agente e editora pra tentar publicá-lo. Isso mais ou menos igual a todo autor que conheço. Ela teve a fase dura de portas na cara, anos de espera, até que finalmente conseguiu uma editora que concordou em publicar seu primeiro trabalho.
E depois disso, a mulher virou uma máquina de escrever.
A Meg escreve muito gente, ela lança livro praticamente todo ano, as vezes mais de um por ano. Ela tem por baixo, mais de 30 livros publicados. E pessoal, ela tem diversas séries incríveis pra se ler (Diário da Princesa, A Mediadora, Tamanho 42 não é gorda, A rainha da fofoca…),além claro dos livros com apenas um volume, que são demais (Como ser popular, Sorte ou Azar, etc…).
Outro motivo que fez eu adorá-la e que não tem nada literário, foi saber que ela também é uma amante dos gatos. Ela tem gatos de estimação, e gente, gato é tão animal de escritor/intelectual, não é? Digo, combina com tal…
E o motivo final de eu gostar dela é que ela tem um blog/site onde se corresponde direto com todos os fãs, dá notícias a respeito das novidades que vai lançar, conta da sua vida, inspirações, responde dúvidas…a senhorita Meg é uma peça rara!

PS. Conselho de amiga mesmo. Não vejam o péssimo filme que a Disney fez para Avalon High. O livro foi, como posso dizer, assassinado naquele filme. Mudaram a história, mudaram o final, enfim, ficou péssimo!!!!

Meg Cabot is definitely one of my favorite writers. Not because of all the books I’ve already read from her, but because of her story. The more I read about her, the more fan I become.
I started to read her books by mediation of a friend of mine that I used to “pen-internet-pal” during college times about ten years ago.
The first book I read from her was Avalon High, and I can tell that my life on what concerns Middle Age and King Arthur stories is divided by before Meg and after Meg. The book was able to make me like a part of the story I always hated and I was tired just to think about stud dying about it. Meg made me like so much King Arthur, that after I read Avalon High I built some courage and began to read The Mists Of Avalon, a pretty cool book to people that love King Arthur’s legends (and that deserves a single post on this blog someday).
But back to Meg, the second book I read from her, The Boy Next Door, was so cool as the first one was, and made me definitely become a Meg’s fan.
It was then that I started to research about her life, and I discovered that her, as many other people in life, did not imagine she would became a writer. She stydied in college to become an illustrator, but her life leaded her to other side but the one she had chosen at college. So regular stuff, right!?
She made a course here, other there, wrote a little book here and she tried to find a book agent and/or editor to publish her stuff. That part is almost the same to all writers I’ve read about. She had the bad phase of the locked doors too, years of waiting, until she finally got a publishing house and published her first book.
After that, the woman became a writer machine.
Meg writes a lot guys, she releases a book every year, and sometimes she releases more than one on the same year. She has bottom line over 30 books published. And guys, she has a lot of amazing series to read (Princess Diaries, The Mediator, The Heather Wells Mystery Series,The “Boy” Series..) besides of course the stand alone books, which are also awesome (How to be Popular, Jinx, etc…)
The other reason that made me like her so much, and that one does not have any literary bases was to know that she is a cat lover too. She has cats as pets and guys, cat is such a writer animal, isn’t it? I mean, it’s the perfect pet to a writer…
And the final reason I like Meg is that she has a blog/site (http://www.megcabot.com/) where she corresponds to all her fans, she gives news about the new releases, tells about her life, inspiration, she answer question…she is a rare piece!

 

PS. Friends advise. Don’t watch the worst movie ever made by Disney to Avalon High! The book, how can I say, was murdered in that movie. They changed the story, the final, and it resulted on something terrible!
