Eleanor & Park – Rainbow Rowell (Eleanor & Park)

Eleanor & Park - Rainbow Rowell (Eleanor & Park)

I’m so in love with this story like I’ve been with my first love.
Eleanor & Park’s story is above all happenings about first love.
Eleanor is a new student at Park’s schools who enters on the bus without having a place to sit and because of that end up sitting with Park. In the beginning both of them don’t get along well, but as time goes by they end up discovering that have more things in common until they become sweethearts.
I thought the story romantic and realistic at the same time, if that’s something possible. Realistic in a cruel way, in a Nelson Rodrigues life as it is. But, when I try to remember all, I only can think of the sweet part.
Eleanor has a very painful life, she’s described as a little fat and even Park, with Asian traits because his mother is Korean, is not that big of a deal on beauty/popularity field, and well, these details made me like even more the story because it could have been real. After all, the prom queens and the quarterbacks nice an charming only exist on the movies. In real life people are not like that, there’s actually normal.
There’s no way you won’t fall in love with this story. Everyone that has lived a first love knows how this is.
OK, I think now it’s kind of official, I can declare my love by Rainbow Rowell from the rooftops. This women is awesome. She made me all of her books in 2015, simply by the fact that I could not not to read them. I love the way she writes, I love all the stories of all her books. If you have the opportunity, read one of her books because it’s so worth, Eleanor & Park is for me one of the books that will please adults and teens. I dare saying that adults will even like more because of the nostalgic effect.

SPOILER ALERT

I makes me want to puke just to remember Eleanor’s step-dad, and I want to take her mother and whip her to punish her for letting her kids live on the situation they do throughout the story.
I liked the kind of opened end, and notice that I don’t like ends like that. I thought cool because the story itself does not need a very elaborated conclusion. Realistic people will know the two of them did not stay together, but the super hopeful ones will have a a reason to believe they could have lived happily ever after. For me it was the same as Paper Towns. I liked a lot because in my opinion the author gave an end to the story that matched her proposal.
