Carry On – Rainbow Rowell

Eu acabei de terminar Carry On and eu simplesmente AMEI!!! É perfeito! Até agora, depois de ler FANGIRL, eu sempre tinha a impressão que o Simon era o Harry Potter, mesmo depois de na história a Rainbow mencionar ele como outra história. Pra mim, uma enorme fã de Harry Potter, não tinha como separar essa ideia em minha mente até ler Carry On. Rainbow conseguiu fazer uma nova história com mensagens tão boas nela.
Eu realmente não estava esperando uma história tão legal e uma trama tão massa. Realmente me surpreendeu. A Rainbow é mesmo fantástica. E sabe, depois que comecei a ler, eu relacionei Simon mais com Voldemort na minha cabeça do que com o Harry…de qualquer forma, quando cheguei no meio da leitura eu já havia esquecido de Harry Potter completamente, pois Simon Snow não é nada como ele. A história, as mensagens que Rainbow quer passar através dela, nada como Harry Potter. Eu honestamente não consigo acreditar que relecionei as duas coisas quando lia Fangirl (a propósito, eu preciso reler Fangirl agora que li Carry On).
Eu amei o mundo dos mágicos e normais que ela criou e explicou, eu amei como os feitiços são feitos neste mundo, e eu amei o fato do livro conter tanta crítica de poder/política.
Outro ponto muito legal do livro é o jeito como ele é narrado cada hora pelo ponto de vista de um personagem da história. Há personagens que você não entenderá num primeiro momento mas que até o final do livro você com certeza entenderá porque estão lá. Se você é do tipo de pessoa que ama livros de fantasia como Harry Potter, Senhor do Anéis etc, você definitivamente vai gostar deste livro, não tem como.

Eu sei que já disse que amei muitas coisas, mas eu realmente amei o fato do Simon ser gay. Ele não sabia exceto o fato de que sabia. Eu queria que Simon ficasse com Baz desde Fangirl, e ainda mais depois de ler a primeira parte do Carry On. Pelo amor de Deus, ele relaciona tudo que acontece com ele, era tão evidente que ele gostava do Baz. OK, nós temos a capa do livro nos dando essa pista também, e Fangirl nos dizendo isso, mas eu amei totalmente o jeito que a Rainbow desenvolveu isso em Carry On.

Eu fui totalmente supreendida pelo mistério do Humdrum. Eu achei que a Rainbow fez um ótimo trabalho com toda a explicação de porque ele se parecia com Simon e como Simon conseguiu consertar as coisas no final. Brilhante!
Eu simplesmente amei o fato de Simon ter vivido com quem viria ser o seu pai sem saber. E também as partes que Lucy narra no livro. Primeiro eu não entendi muito bem, mas quando você percebe que ela é a mãe do Simon…é tãooooo de cortar o coração! E de cortar ainda mais quando você percebe que ele não estava só ouvindo a mãe do Baz, mas também a sua própria mãe sem saber + ele termina sem saber disso…tãooo triste!!!

I just finished Carry On and I TOTALLY LOVED it! It’s perfect. Until now, after reading FANGIRL, I always had the impression that Simon was Harry Potter even after Rainbow making a mention of him on Fangirl. For me, a HUGE fan of Harry Potter, I couldn’t split this idea in my mind until I read Carry On. Rainbow was able to make a new story with so many good messages on it.
I really wasn’t expecting such a nice story with such a nice plot. It really surprised me. Rainbow was fantastic. And you know, after I started reading, I related Simon more with Voldemort in my head than with Harry…anyway, by the time I was in the middle of the reading I had totally forgot about Harry Potter, because Simon Snow is nothing like Harry Potter. The story, the messages Rainbow wants to pass thru it, nothing like Harry Potter. I honestly can’t believe I related it so much with Harry when I was reading Fangirl (by the way, I totally need to re-read it now post Carry On reading).
I loved the world of Magicians and Normals she created and explained, I loved the way the spells are made on this world, and I loved the fact that this book has so much power/politics critics on it.
Other good point of the book his the way it’s narrated each time by someone’s point of view. There are characters you won’t understand at first but until the end of the book you’ll definitely get why they are there.
If you’re the kind of person that loves fantasy books such as Harry Potter, Lord Of the Rings, you’ll definitely like this book.

I know I already told I loved to many things, but I did loved that Simon was gay. He didn’t know except he knew. I wanted Simon to be with Baz since Fangirl, and even more after reading the first part of the book. For God’s sake, he related everything with Baz, it was so evident he liked him. OK, we have the book coverage telling us that, and Fangirl telling us that, but I totally loved the way Rainbow developed it on Carry On.

I was totally surprised about all the Humdrum mystery. I think Rainbow did a good job with all the explanation of why he looked like Simon and how Simon could fix things in the end. Brilliant!
I simply loved the fact that Simon was all the time living with who would be his own dad. And also, when you read Lucy’s parts of the narrative, at first you didn’t get it, but when you realize she’s Simon’s mom…it’s sooo heartbreaking. And it’s even more heartbreaking when you realise that he wasn’t listening only to Baz’s mom, he was listening to his Mom too without knowing + he ends up not knowing it…soooo sad!
