1) Como e quando surgiu a ideia de escrever o livro? E porque esse gênero específico?

Ish, essa resposta será longa! Eu sempre fui fascinado por histórias. Ainda sou. Acho algo maravilhoso, quase uma experiência religiosa, você se desligar de sua rotina maçante e mergulhar em um mundo fantástico. Dessa paixão por ler histórias surgiu, concomitantemente, a paixão por contá-las. E assim fui introduzido ao RPG (Role Playing Games) onde pude começar a compor minhas próprias histórias. E de alguma forma, eu queria mais. Depois de anos e anos de pequenos contos e algumas HQ’s (histórias em quadrinhos) em 2009 eu decidi que escreveria um livro. Como o tempo que me sobrava para escrever era relativamente curto – na volta do trabalho e finais de semana – ele ficou em “produção” de 2009 até meados de 2011. Em 2012 eu finalmente terminei, mas ficou engavetado por problemas pessoais e acabou em “modo espera” até ano passado, quando finalmente pude publicá-lo virtualmente. O gênero não foi algo específico, foi apenas uma das inúmeras histórias que povoam minha mente do universo de Shipon.

 

2) Como foi o processo de criação da história? Você já teve a ideia de tudo que iria acontecer ou foi trabalhando em cima de uma primeira ideia (exemplo primeiro pensou no mundo e nos reis ou já teve a ideia do plano do rei-macaco)

A história só precisou de um empurrão pra sair quase toda. Em meados de 2010 eu criei um “país” chamado Shipon (Shipon foi minha tentativa de criar um lugar onde se pudesse misturar um pouco das culturas orientais! Na verdade, Shipon não foi bem criado, ele se manifestou! Havia tantas histórias povoando minha cabeça, tantos personagens peculiares, mas cada um se passava em um lugar diferente. E para dar sentido a tudo isso, Shipon se mostrou a mim. Sempre fui um grande admirador da cultura oriental (com mais ênfase na chinesa e japonesa, e com mais ferocidade ainda na japonesa) e grande fã do modo de vida desses povos! Também sou um devorador de livros e um dedicado acompanhador de filmes e séries. E graças a tudo isso, as histórias que não paravam de surgir encontraram respaldo nesse “caldo cultural” de informações e shipon foi tomando forma! Se repararmos, foneticamente, SHIPON é a junção de CHIna e jaPÃO! Como os povos orientais não tem “~”(se é que eles têm algum acento gráfico) o nome foi mudado para CHIPON…e depois, por razões estéticas para SHIPON!) Como sou praticante de artes marciais (Kung Fu) sempre achei interessante o fato de que alguns estilos basearam seus golpes e movimentos em animais, e me peguei pensando: “Em um certo sentido, os animais ensinaram os humanos.” Quando eu adquiri “Jornada ao Oeste”, de Wu Chegen, e conheci o lendário Rei Macaco (que, entre outros personagens inspirou Goku, de Dragon Ball) em menos de 25 minutos eu sabia que eu teria que escrever uma ode ao REI da perspicácia. Com o Rei Macaco pronto, e pesquisando sobre os outros animais referenciados no Kung Fu, cheguei ao cabalístico número 7 e a partir de uma cena (mais precisamente, a cena onde o Rei Macaco vence um outro Deus Rei apenas com astúcia ao invés de força) escrevi tudo até o fim. Depois voltei, e fui me indagando COMO a história progrediria até ali.

 

3) O final do livro nos apresenta o que realmente o Rei-Macaco estava planejando o tempo todo, mas há abertura para várias histórias além desta com o mundo que você criou. Há possibilidade de alguma continuação/spin-off de os 7 punhos?

Ah sim, eu sempre gosto de manter possibilidades. Eu já tinha até a continuação DIRETA dessa história (que envolveria os 12 “Deuses” do Zodíaco Chinês) mostrando Shipon incontáveis anos após a grande aventura do Rei Macaco, mas não havia pensado a história como um livro e sim como um roteiro de HQ. Talvez eu faça uma adaptação mais futuramente. E outras histórias sobre Shipon estão transbordando sempre, estou apenas escolhendo aquelas que merecem ser contadas e que tenham algo novo para acrescentar.

 

4) Sei que você tem planos para um nova história. Ela será no mesmo gênero de os 7 punhos ou temática para este novo livro mudará completamente?

No momento estou envolvido com alguns projetos de histórias em quadrinhos em parceria com o Studio Magenta, então minha dedicação está só nisso. O próximo livro que já comecei a escrever, lamento desapontá-la, mas tirando o fato de ser uma história de universo fantástico, não tem absolutamente nada a ver com os 7 punhos do céu. É uma história que mescla mitologia nórdica e fantasia medieval ocidental clássica.

 

5) Algum animal e ou evento específico ocorrido no livro teve inspiração em algo que você tenha vivido/presenciado?

Na verdade, sim. O Rei Garça foi inspirado em (suspense) uma garça real! Perto de onde eu moro, tem um pequeno pasto, com apenas uma vaca ali amarrada pastando. E eu sempre vejo uma pequena garça junto da vaca. Não importa se chove ou faz sol, se é de dia ou de noite, a garça acompanha sua “amiga” bovina e essa dedicação me inspirou a fazer o fiel e sereno amigo do Rei Macaco

 

6) Há planos para cópias impressas de Os 7 Punhos e uma versão em inglês do mesmo?

Ha sim, definitivamente sim. Já estamos trabalhando numa tradução para o inglês e estamos entrando em contato com alguns parceiros para a versão impressa. Se depender de mim, existirão muitas outras mídias a serem exploradas para a lenda do Rei Macaco, tais como uma animação e uma linha de estatuetas colecionáveis dos 7 Reis. Mas como prudência e caldo de galinha não fazem mal a ninguém (exceto a galinha, talvez) estamos tocando cada projeto com muita calma e com a dedicação que esse “filho” merece!

1) How and when did the idea of writing the book come up? And why this particular genre?

Ish, that answer will be long! I’ve always been fascinated by stories. I still am. I find something wonderful, almost a religious experience, you get disconnected from your dull routine and plunge into a fantastic world. From this passion for reading stories came, at the same time, the passion for counting them. And so I was introduced to RPG (Role Playing Games) where I was able to start composing my own stories. And somehow, I wanted more. After years and years of short stories and a few comics, in 2009 I decided I would write a book. As the time I had left to write was relatively short – on return from work and weekends – it went into “production” from 2009 until mid-2011. In 2012 I finally finished but I kind of archived it due to personal issues and it ended up in ” Standby mode ” until last year when I was finally able to publish it virtually. The genre was not something specific, it was just one of the countless stories that populate my mind of the Shipon universe.

 

2) How was the story-making process? Have you had the idea of everything that would happen or were you working on a first idea (example: you first thought about the world and the kings or already had the idea of the monkey king’s plan)

The story just needed a push to be fully completed. In mid-2010 I created a “country” called Shipon (Shipon was my attempt to create a place where I could mix a little of the Eastern cultures!) In fact, Shipon was not, well, created, it manifested! So many peculiar characters, but each one happened in a different place. And to make sense of all this, Shipon showed itself to me. I have always been a great admirer of Eastern culture (with more emphasis on Chinese and Japanese, and with more ferocity a Japanese fan) and a big fan of these people way of life! I am also a devourer of books and dedicated to see films and series and thanks to all this, the stories that did not stop appearing have found support in this “cultural cauldron” where shipon was being created. If you notice the eastern people do not have “~” (if they have some graphic accent) the name was changed to CHIPON …Then, for cosmetic reasons to SHIPON!) Since I am a martial artist (Kung Fu) I have always found it interesting that some styles based their blows and movements on animals, and I found myself thinking, “In a sense, animals taught When I got Wu Chegen’s “Journey to the West,” and met the legendary Monkey King (who, among other characters inspired Goku, of Dragon Ball) in less than 25 minutes I knew I would have to write an ode to the KING of insight. With the Monkey King ready, and researching the other animals referenced in Kung Fu, I came to the kabalistic number 7 and from a scene (more precisely, the scene where the Monkey King beats another King God only with cunning instead of force) I wrote everything to the end. Then I came back, and I wondered how the story would progress until get there.

3) The end of the book introduces us to what the Monkey King was actually planning all the time, but there is openness to several stories beyond this with the world that you have created. Is there any possibility of some continuation / spin-off of the 7 fists?

Oh yes, I always like to keep possibilities. I even had DIRECT continuation of this story (which would involve the 12 “Gods” of the Chinese Zodiac) showing Shipon countless years after the Great Monkey King’s great adventure, but I have not thought about this story as a book but as a comic book script. Maybe I’ll make an adjustment later. And other stories about Shipon are always overflowing, I’m just picking the ones that deserve to be told and have something new to add.

 

4) I know you have plans for a new story. Will it be in the same genre as the 7 fists or the thematic for this new book will completely different?

At the moment I’m involved with some comic book projects in partnership with Studio Magenta, so my dedication is just that. The next book I’ve already started writing, I’m sorry to disappoint you, but since it’s a fantastic universe story, it has absolutely nothing to do with the 7 sky fists. It is a story that mixes Nordic mythology and classical western medieval fantasy.

 

5) Has any animal or specific event occurred in the book inspired by something you have experienced / witnessed?

Actually yes. The Heron King was inspired by (suspense) a heron! Close to where I used to live, there was a small pasture, with only one cow grazing there. And I always saw a little egret next to the cow. It didn’t matter if it rained or shined, if it was day or night, the heron accompanied his bovine “friend” and this dedication inspired me to become the faithful and serene friend of the Monkey King

 

6) Are there plans for printed copies of The 7 Fists and an English version of it?

Yes, definitely, yes. We are already working on a translation into English and we are contacting some partners for the printed version. If it is up to me, there will be many other media to be explored for the Monkey King legend, such as an animation and a line of collectible figurines of the 7 Kings. But how prudence and chicken broth do not harm anyone (except the chicken, perhaps) we are playing each project with great calm and with the dedication that this “son” deserves!
