A Mediadora: Assombrado - Meg Cabot (The Mediator - Haunted)

a mediadora assombrado

a mediadora assombrado2
This book can be summarized as the Eclipse (Stephanie Meyer) version of the Mediator collection.
Suze has to deal with the sense of mistrust / curiosity she feeds for Paul when he returns to his city to live with his sick grandfather. Paul tease her throughout the whole story, and it is difficult to understand what goes on in that strange boy’s head, who seems to know all about the gift he possesses in common with Suze.
Suze apparently suspicious that Jesse does not have the same feelings ends up being seduced by the idea of knowing more about her gift in common with Paul. This ends up being the central theme of this volume.

The most interesting of this book is how the subject shifter / mediator is developed in the story. We are introduced to this new skill at the end of the 4th book, and it is from the 5th on that we will know more details about something that will make all the difference to the end of this story.
Paul shows Suze that the shifters, as he calls the gift they have in common, manage not only to speak to the dead, but also to move between the Earth and the intermediate plane that exists between this and the next life, and apparently they can accomplish even more than that.
Jesse ends up moving to the school chapel where Suze studies after confessing to Father Dominic that they had kissed each other, and this makes Suze think he didn’t like what happened between them. Obviously (as in every good romance) she is wrong, and Jesse only changes because he did like kissing her, and in fact, she did not think it was any more right to live in the same room as she had after realizing it.
At the very end of the book, Paul’s grandfather, who we think is sick and unable to communicate with people throughout the story, finds Suze and warns her that Paul is planning something very dangerous. Plot of the next and last volume of the series. (That is, last until Meg announced in 2014 that she will be releasing another story of Suze, now she’s in college).
