Por que você está lendo pouco? E por que o KINDLE te ajuda na meta de ler mais?

Aproveitando que fiz uma “bookshelf tour” pelos livros do meu kindle no canal do youtube, resolvi falar um pouco mais sobre ele aqui no blog, pois pra mim ele é sem dúvida a melhor gadget que eu já adquiri nos últimos tempos. (não é a tôa que eu estou no meu 3o kindle – o kindle voyage).
O kindle em si não necessariamente se refere apenas ao dispositivo físico, mas sim ao app. Ele pode ser instalado no seu computador, tablet e celular. Ou seja, você não precisa necessariamente ter um kindle físico para conseguir comprar e ler os ebooks. Aliás, mesmo você tendo o dispositivo físico você ainda pode ter o app nos outros lugares e sincronizar as leituras que está fazendo pelo wi-fi ou 3G.
Pra mim o kindle físico munido de uma boa capinha sana em parte a falta de segurar o livro físico, já que sem dúvida alguma eu prefiro os livros de papel aos ebooks. Vou deixar aqui o link de uma loja dos UK que vende umas capinhas de kindle personalizadas no formato de livros e com capas inspiradas neles inclusive.

Eu comprei uma lá inspirada em Harry Potter, e gente, eles fazem as capinhas artesanalmente e te mandam até cartinha da pessoa que produziu. Achei muito amor, e o preço delas mesmo tendo conversão e imposto fica praticamente a mesma coisa de comprar uma da Amazon ou às vezes até mais barato caso você pegue uma promoção do site. Só pra ter uma ideia quando comprei a minha em 2016 eu paguei em torno de 75 reais – peguei uma promo.
O tempo de espera por ela foi de mais ou menos um mês e pouco, mas isso como dependemos do péssimo serviço dos Correios pode variar muito né!?
Outro atrativo do kindle é a praticidade de transporte e de poder ter acesso a suas leituras em qualquer momento carregando um peso ínfimo na sua bolsa. Ou vai dizer que é super OK carregar aqueles calhamaços do Crônicas de Gelo e Fogo por aí pra ler? Você muitas vezes acaba desistindo de levar pelo peso e daí acaba não lendo o tanto que poderia no seu tempo livre. (Mesmo motivo de pessoas não conseguirem usar aquelas agendas gigantescas – não são práticas e são pesadas!)
O que também pode incentivar muito na opção por esse tipo de livros/dispositivo é o fator preço. Os ebooks tendem a ter um preço bem menor do que os livros físicos e por isso mesmo você terá acesso a um leque de títulos muito maior do que teria nos exemplares físicos.
Minha regra particular para comprá-los são títulos com preço inferior a 10 reais, principalmente se estiverem com preço abaixo de 5 reais. A maioria da minha biblioteca é formada de livros que comprei por menos de 5 reais e muitos de graça que peguei na biblioteca de clássicos que tem dentro da Amazon.
Ou seja, se a desculpa pra não ter o app é que você não tem o dispositivo físico e/ou dinheiro para comprar os ebooks, saiba que na Amazon há uma parte enorme reservada para livros que podem ser baixados de graça. E detalhe, a Amazon vive fazendo promos de livros atuais por ZERO reais também. Eu já peguei muitos da Colleen Hoover assim lá. É só ficar de olho que sempre tem alguma coisa interessante.
E por último, o kindle ajuda no quesito acesso a livros mais rapidamente, pois caso você queira ler algum título que só foi lançado em outro país e ainda vai demorar para ser traduzido por aqui, ou até mesmo um lançamento daqui que demorará dias pra chegar pelos Correios, no kindle você consegue receber o mesmo no dia do lançamento.
Nesse caso o preço compensa? Bem, na maioria das vezes não pois você vai pagar o preço do livro físico no ebook, massss se você souber usar isso apenas para títulos que você esteja muito ansiosa para ler então eu não considero como um prejuízo. Como eu tenho a regra dos ebooks abaixo de 10/5 reais, eu às vezes me dou ao luxo de pegar algum título por 20 ou 30 reais. Um caso que posso citar aqui é o final da saga dos Garotos Corvos da Maggie Stiefvater. Eu queria muito ler o 4o livro, mas qdo terminei o 3o ainda teria que esperar uns 5 meses pela tradução, então entrei na Amazon peguei o 4o livro no original mesmo e puff 2 dias depois eu já sabia o final da série.
O bom mesmo é estabelecer uma cota mensal para comprar livros, sejam eles físicos ou ebooks. Eu geralmente reservo 50 reais por mês para isso. Mas pode ser mais ou menos, depende de cada um. Fazendo assim você consegue ter uma base do que pode comprar e não extrapola seus limites financeiros. Why are you reading so little? And why KINDLE can help you to read more?

Since I did a “kindle bookshelf tour” on my youtube channel, I decided to talk a little more about it on the blog, because my opinion it is undoubtedly the best gadget I have ever bought. (no wonder I am in my 3rd kindle – kindle voyage).
The kindle itself does not necessarily refer only to the physical device, but to the app. It can be installed on your computer, tablet and cell phone. So, you do not necessarily need to have a physical kindle to be able to buy and read the ebooks. And even if you have the physical device you can still have the app in other places and sync the readings you are doing thru wi-fi or 3G.
For me the physical kindle device, with a good case, heals in part the lack of a physical book, since I undoubtedly prefer paper books to ebooks. I will leave here the link of a UK store that sells personalized kindle cases in book format and with covers inspired by them.

I bought one that is inspired by Harry Potter, and folks, it’s handmade and they send you a letter from the person who did it. It’s really lovely, and the price  is pretty much the same as buying one from Amazon or sometimes even cheaper if you find a sales on the site. Just to get an idea when I bought mine in 2016 I paid around 75 reais – it was on sale.
The waiting time for the delivery was about a month and a half, but that depends on how bad the Post office , which in Brazil at least is super terrible.
Another kindle attraction is the practicality of transportation and of being able to have access to your readings at any moment carrying a negligible weight in your bag. Or would you say that it’s super OK to carry those Chronicles of Ice and Fire big books out there to read? You often end up giving up because of the weight and you end up not reading as much as you could in your free time. (Same reason people are not able to use those gigantic planners – they are not practical and they are heavy!)
What can also encourage you a lot in chooosing this type of books / device is the price. Ebooks tend to have a much lower price than physical books, therefore you will have access to a larger range of titles than you would have on physical copies.
My particular rule to buy them are titles with price less than 10 reais, especially if they are priced below 5 reais. Most of my library is made up of books I bought for less than 5 reais and lots of free books that I bought from Amazon classics library.
So, if the excuse to not have it is that you do not have the physical device and / or money to buy the ebooks, you should know that Amazon has a huge part reserved for books that can be downloaded for free. And frequently, Amazon is making promos of current books by ZERO reais as well. I’ve already gotten a lot of Colleen Hoover out there. Just keep an eye out that there’s always something interesting.
And lastly, kindle helps in the faster access to books, so if you want to read some title that was only released in another country and it will take some time to be translated, or even a launch that will take days to arrive by the Post Office, in kindle you can receive the same on the day of release.
In this situation does the price pay off? Well, most of the time it doesn’t because you will pay the price of the physical book for the ebook, but if you know how to use this only for titles that you are very eager to read, I do not consider it as a loss. Since I have the ebooks rule below 10/5 reais, I sometimes can afford to buy some title for 20 or 30 reais. One case that I can mention here is the end of the Maggie Stiefvater saga of the Raven Boys. I really wanted to read the 4th book, but when I finished the 3rd I would still have to wait about 5 months for the translation, so I went to Amazon and got the 4th book in original and puff 2 days later I already knew the end of the series.
The good thing is to establish a monthly quota for buying books, be they physical or ebooks. I usually reserve 50 reais a month for this. But it can be more or less, it depends on each one. By doing so you get a basis from what you can buy and do not extrapolate your financial limits.
