The Room Mate – Kendall Ryan

Esse foi um dos livros daquela série não dava nada e acabei de surpreendendo.

Peguei o título por ZERO reais no kindle na lista das histórias similares a série da Elle Kennedy dos Amores Improváveis que eu tinha amado, e mesmo assim só peguei porque estava de graça já que odiei o resuminho da história.

Nem imaginava eu que aquela descrição não tinha muito a ver com a história em si, e quando eu comecei a ler vi que se tivesse deixado me levar por ela nunca teria lido uma história super legal.

No livro conhecemos Canon, um estudante de medicina em vias de se formar e ir para a residência, que tem seu apartamento incendiado pela ex-namora louca. Faltando 2 meses para se formar ele fica sem ter onde morar pois é expulso do prédio devido ao tumulto causado pela ex.

Sua irmã mais velha querendo ajudar  fala com sua melhor amiga, Paige, e pede para ela deixá-lo morar pelos próximos meses com ela já que ninguém irá alugar algo para ele por apenas 2 meses. Paige meio a contra gosto acaba aceitando.

Ela descobre então que o irmão nerd mais novo da amiga se tornou um homem bonitão e charmoso quando ele bate na porta da casa dela, e a atração entre ambos fica evidente desde o primeiro minuto.

Ao longo da história vamos saber nas partes narradas por Canon que ele adorou a ideia de dividir apartamento com Paige pois ele sempre teve um crush nela desde moleque. Já Paige nunca havia pensado em Canon por esse viés mas agora vendo-o como um homem não consegue evitar a atração.

Teremos infinitas cenas engraçadas entre ambos no apartamento. Toalhas caindo, os dois tentando negar que há algo rolando, os dois admitindo que há algo rolando e tentando chegar num acordo de vamos nos pegar mas não podemos contar pra irmã do Canon/melhor amiga de Paige, enfim a história irá se desenvolver como uma perfeita comédia romântica, e posso dizer que Kendall tem o estilo certo pra desenvolver a história.

Adorei os personagens, adorei o jeito que a história foi desenvolvida e com certeza lerei mais coisas da Kendall. Nesse ponto só pode dizer que que bom que eu não me deixei levar pelas primeiras impressões! Valeu totalmente a pena conferir.

This was one of the books “from the I don’t give a damn about it series” that just surprised me.

I bought the kindle version for FREE from the related books to the Elle Kennedy series OFF CAMPUS that I had loved, and even then I only picked it because it was free since I hated its description.

I did not imagine that the description itself didn’t have much to do with the story, and by the time I started to read I saw that if I had let myself be taken by it I would never have read a super cool story.

In the book we meet Canon, a medical student about to graduate and go to the residence, which had his apartment destroyed by his crazy ex-girlfriend. With 2 months to go, he has no place to live because he is expelled from the building due to the turmoil caused by the ex.

Her older sister, wanting to help, talks to her best friend, Paige, and asks her to let him live for the next couple months with her since no one will rent him anything for only two months. Paige kind of reluctantly agrees.

She then discovers that her friend’s younger nerdy brother has become a handsome, attractive man when he knocks on her door, and the attraction between them is evident from the first minute.

Throughout the story we will know in the parts narrated by Canon that he loved the idea of ​​sharing apartment with Paige because he always had a crush on her since kid. Paige had never thought of Canon like a love insterest but now seeing him as a man she can not denny all the attraction.

We’ll have endless funny scenes between the two in the apartment. Towels falling, the two trying to deny that there is something going on, the two admitting that there is something going on and trying to reach a roommates with benefits greement they can not tell  Canon’s sister / Paige’s best friend, anyway the story will develop like a perfect romantic comedy, and I can say that Kendall has the right style to develop the story.

I loved the characters, I loved the way the story was developed and I’m sure I’ll read more of Kendall’s stuff. At this point, I can only say that I’m glad I did not get carried away by first impressions! It was totally worth checking out.
