Love Machine – Kendall Ryan

Quando li  The room mate eu sabia que teria que ler mais coisas da Kendall, pois eu amei o jeito dela apresentar um romance.

Há uma linha muito tênue entre o brega e “vc tá tirando com a minha cara” e o crível quando se trata de uma história cujo assunto principal é o romance, ou seja, quando encontro um autor que consiga fazer isso muito bem, eu me agarro e tento ler tudo que puder.

A premissa dessa história por exemplo, super clichê como a do primeiro livro que li: amigos que se apaixonam. Mas o jeito que a Kendal apresenta é muito divertido e gostoso de se ler.

Nós temos Keaton, um moça total independente, formada, tem seu apto e uma gata, um trabalho que ama e é muito boa, adoro números, sabe fazer uma planilha como ninguém, ela até ajuda a vizinha com seu Imposto de Renda porque no fundo acha legal ajudar. Keaton teria todos os atributos que ela considera importantes não fosse a aula sobre sexo oral que ela participa na despedida de solteira da amiga e na qual ela é meio que reprovada.

Inconformada por não ter dominância desse setor, ela elabora uma planilha do sexo e só precisa encontrar um professor para lhe ensinar tudo.

Ela recorre então a Slate, seu super amigo que só pega todo mundo e não se apega. Os dois se conhecem desde a faculdade e nesse tempo todo Keaton só o viu com uma namorada, depois nunca mais, só aventuras. Ela acha que Slate é perfeito para as aulas, só não sabe como convencê-lo.

Num primeiro momento Slate fica meio receoso e eles tentam procurar uma outra pessoa como parceiro para Keaton treinar suas habilidades, mas quando Slate se depara com um candidato em potencial, ele acaba cancelando esse plano sem que Keaton saiba e se oferece como cobaia.

Quem vocês acham que se apaixona primeiro? Acho que por este começo já dá para entender que Slate sempre teve uma quedinha por Keaton, só não havia se dado conta né!?

Gostei muito da história toda, os personagens são interessantes. Slate não é o galinha que você pensa por acaso, há motivos para isso, e Keaton tem  uma auto-estima comprometida e mais complexos do que você imagina. Chega a dar uma raivinha dela em algumas partes, mas lembrem-se do que comentei aqui e vejam se vocês não concordam comigo. Ela só age como age por se achar muito pouco.

Pessoal, leitura pra passar o tempo e se divertir. E apimentar um pouco as coisas também. As cenas quentes são realmente quentes e bem descritas. Kendall é perfeita nisso. Lerei mais coisas! Muito mais.

When I read The Room Mate  I knew I would have to read more of Kendall’s stuff, because I loved the way she presented the story.

There is a very thin line between the tacky and “you’re laughing at my face” and the believable when it comes to a story whose main subject is a romance, so when I meet an author who can do this very well, I  hold onto him/her and try to read as much as I can.

The premise of this story for example, super cliche like the first book I read: friends who fall in love. But the way Kendal presents it is so much fun to read.

We have Keaton, a total independent girl, graduated, who has her apt and a cat, a job that she loves, and is very good with numbers, she knows how to make a spreadsheet like nobody else, she even helps the neighbor with her Income Tax because she thinks it’s nice to help. Keaton would have all the attributes that she considers important were it not for the oral sex class that she participates in her friend’s bachelor party in which she is kind of fail.

Upset by not having dominance of this sector, she makes a sex spreadsheet and only needs to find a teacher to teach her everything.

She then thinks about Slate, her super-friend who just hoop up with everybody not strings attached mode. The two have known each other since college, and since then Keaton only saw him with one girlfriend, then never again, just adventures. She believes Slate is perfect for classes, she just does not know how to convince him.

At first Slate is a little afraid and they try to find someone else as Keaton’s partner for her to practice her skills, but when Slate comes across a potential candidate, he ends up canceling that plan without Keaton knowing and offering himself as a guinea pig.

Who do you think falls in love first? I believe that after what I said above you can understand that Slate always had a crush on Keaton, just had not noticed, right !?

I really enjoyed the whole story, the characters are interesting. Slate is not the womanizer you believe he is by chance, there are reasons for that, and Keaton has a compromised self-esteem and more complex issues than you imagine. You get annoyed by her in some parts, but remember what I said here and see if you do not agree with me. She acts only as she acts because she believes in herself very little.

People, this is a reading to spend some time and to have fun. And to spice things up a bit, too. The hot scenes are really warm and well described. Kendall is perfect at it. I’ll read more! A lot more.
