O Verão Que Mundou Minha Vida – Jenny Han (The Summer I Turned Pretty)

A Jenny Han com certeza já me conquistou como autora, e depois de ler esse livro posso afirmar que vou querer ler todos os livros dela (o que por sinal é tarefa super difícil aqui no Brasil já que não dá pra achar os livros da mulher gente, super difícil! e super caros!).
Os primeiros livros que li dela foram Para Todos Os Garotos Que Já Amei e PS Eu Ainda Amo Você (que eu já resenhei aqui no blog) e ainda continuo achando esses os mais legais, mas eu já havia lido no blog da Melina sobre esta outra trilogia e como eu fiquei extremamente satisfeita com as primeiras leituras decidi arriscar nessa outra.
Essa história é perfeita pra se ler nas férias, quando você pode sentar despreocupada e ler, ler, apenas ler e curtir tudo que vai acontecendo. Foi o que aconteceu comigo, forçada a estar de férias semana passada, eu acabei lendo um livro por dia desta trilogia e simplesmente adorei. Uma leitura tão leve, fofinha, e como diria meu namorado, cheia de mexicanisses (entendam isso por muitos altos e baixos amorosos – expectadores de folhetins do tipo Maria do Bairro entenderão).
Este primeiro livro nos apresenta Isabel (Belly) a qual tem a sua vida baseada em verões. Como ela mesma observa sua vida inteira foi basicamente contada em vários meses do ano esperando pelos 3 meses de verão. Belly adora os verões porque todo ano ela, seu irmão e mãe passam esses meses na casa dos Fisher, mais precisamente da Susannah Fisher (Becky) grande amiga de sua mãe. E este verão ficará marcado para sempre em sua vida, o verão que Belly irá completar 16 anos, e que muitas coisas acontecem. Seus amigos Conrad e Jeremiah (filhos de Becky) finalmente percebem que ela não é mais uma criança, ela começa a se sentir realmente bonita e desejada, e encontra seu primeiro namoradinho.
Belly irá com certeza ter sua vida toda modificada pelos vários acontecimentos deste verão e sua vida nunca mais será a mesma após tudo o que viverá nele.
Galera, emoção do início ao fim. Meninas adorarão, meninos com certeza devem passar longe da história.

Quando você é uma pessoa mais nova lendo um romance adolescente tudo é muito surpreendente. Quando você é uma adulta lendo um romance adolescente, a maioria dos “mistérios” não são mais “mistérios”. É o que acontece neste livro quando apenas Belly não percebe o que está rolando com Becky, e consequentemente com Conrad durante o verão. Tudo fica muito evidente na atitude dos outros personagens, e enfim, não tem como não perceber que ela está doente de novo, só Belly não percebe isso porque é a mais nova e mais ingênua.
Eu adorei o primeiro livro pois apesar de Belly ser extremamente apaixonada por Conrad, ela se arrisca e vai lá, sai com outro menino e enfim, curte o momento. Acho isso fundamental em qualquer menina e enfim, achei que o livro deu um bom exemplo neste primeiro volume neste sentido.
Fiquei mega morrendo de dó do Jeremiah pois era evidente que ele sempre gostou mais de Belly do que Conrad, e enfim, achei o personagem do Conrad muito tosco, chato e arrogante. Realmente eu não curto caras que fazem o que ele fez neste livro e nos outros.

Jenny Han certainly got me as an author, and after reading this book I can say that I want to read all her books (which by the way are super difficult to find in Brazil. You can’t find the books of this woman people, it’s so hard! and they are too expensive!).
The first books I read were To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and PS I Still Love You (which I already posted about on the blog ) and I am still finding these the coolest, but I had read in Melina’s blog about this other trilogy and as I was extremely satisfied with the first readings I decided to risk on this one.
This story is perfect to read when you’re on vacation, when you can sit totally free and read, read, read and just enjoy everything that is happening. That’s what happened to me, forced to be on vacation last week, I ended up reading a book a day of this trilogy and I just loved it. A reading so light, cute, and as my boyfriend would say, full of “mexicanisses” (understand that for many ups and downs on the loving story – people that watch soap-operas like Maria do Bairro will understand).
This first book presents Isabel (Belly) which has her life based on summers. She defines her whole life basically in several months of the year waiting for the three months of summer. Belly loves summers because every year she, her brother, and mother spend these months in the Fisher’s home, more precisely owned by Susannah Fisher (Becky) great friend of his mother. And this summer will be remembered forever in her life, the summer Belly will turn 16, and that many things happen. Her friends Conrad and Jeremiah (Becky’s children) finally realize that she is no longer a child, she starts to feel really beautiful and desired, and she finds her first boyfriend.
Belly will certainly have her life changed by many events this summer and her life will never be the same after all that will live in it.
People, it’s emotion from the beginning until the end. Girls will love, boys, for sure, must pass away from history.

When you are a younger person reading a teen romance it’s all very surprising. When you are an adult reading a teen novel, most of the “mysteries” are no longer “mysteries.” This is what happens in this book when only Belly does not realize what’s going on with Becky, and consequently with Conrad during the summer. Everything is very evident in the attitude of the other characters, and therefore you can not help but notice that she is sick again, just Belly do not realize it because she sure is the youngest and more naive person in the house.
I loved the first book because although Belly is extremely in love with Conrad, she take the risk and go there, go out with another boy and finally enjoys the moment. I think this is fundamental in any girl, and I thought the book gave a good example in this first volume about it.
I very pitty about Jeremiah because it was evident that he always liked Belly more than Conrad, and I thought Conrad character very idiot, annoying and arrogant. I really don’t like guys who do what he did in this book and the others.
