Agora e Para Sempre, Lara Jean – Jenny Han (Always and Forever, Lara Jean)

Como de costume,  gostaria de avisar que se você ainda não leu Para todos os garotos que já amei e PS Ainda amo você e está lendo este texto, com certeza vai tomar algum SPOILER pois o começo desta história implica saber coisas do final da outras. Então, caso você não tenha lido mas gostaria de ainda ler, clica aí nos nomes dos livros e leia as primeiras resenhas.

Este livro foi o final (espero eu) da trilogia que não era para ter sido uma trilogia.

Enfim, a ideia de um terceiro livro já não havia me agradado desde quando foi anunciada pois a própria Jenny já havia deixado meio que explícito que o que ela tinha para contar sobre Lara Jean já havia sido passado nos dois volumes lançados, o quais eu gostei bastante e não achava de forma alguma que precisassem de algum tipo de continuação. Mas pedidos de fãs e a ideia de ordenhar mais a vaca que já tinha dado seu leite fizeram a editora abordar Jenny para mais um volume.

O resultado para mim? Um livro extremamente desnecessário e que não agregou nada na história da Lara Jean. Foi ruim? Bem, não posso dizer que foi ruim pois Jenny escreve super bem e consegue até fazer alguns momentos interessantes no meio de tanta baboseira, mas mais da metade do livro a gente só acompanha Lara Jean fazendo doces e buscando pelo cookie perfeito, o que convenhamos, não precisaria de um livro para ser contado nos mínimos detalhes.

Há apenas um acontecimento relevante no livro todo, que é a decisão de qual faculdade ela vai cursar e como ela e Peter vão lidar com a situação. Mas honestamente, se você leu os primeiros livros com certeza conseguiria inferir o final deste livro tranquilamente. O que me leva a ser novamentente redundante e dizer que não há nada de novo acontecendo neste livro, e que enfim, não precisamos dele.

Na boa, eu emprestaria de alguma amiga se não tivesse o vício de completar coleções. Ou seja, caso você não tenha esse terrível vício, não gaste dinheiro a tôa.

Agora um momento desabafo: Parem de pedir continuações de histórias que não deveriam ter continuações! Let it go! Desencanem! Leaim coisas novas! Pelo amor de Deus, parem de se apegar tanto!. Quer encontrar o personagem de novo? Leia novamente o livro. É o que fazemos com Harry Potter até hoje e tem dado certo. Vejam a ideia da “continuação” em forma de peça que a JK autorizou. Fiasco. Nunca será, jamais será.  Harry teve 7 livros e apenas 7. Não dá pra ficar estendendo histórias. O princípio universal delas é que elas possuem começo, meio e fim.

This book was the last one (I hope) of the trilogy that was not supposed to be a trilogy.

Anyway, the idea of a third book had not pleased me since when it was announced because Jenny herself had already kind of made it explicit that what she had to tell about Lara Jean she already had done in both volumes released, which I liked and I indeed didn’t think they need a sequence at all. But requests from fans and the idea of making more money made the publishing company ask Jenny for another volume.

The result for me? An extremely unnecessary book that did not add anything to the story of Lara Jean. Was it bad? Well, I can’t say it was bad because Jenny writes super well and she can even make some interesting moments in the middle of so much bullshit, but more than half of the book we only see Lara Jean making sweets and searching for the perfect cookie, fact that wouldn’t need a book to be described in details.

There is only one relevant event in the whole book, which is the decision of which college she will attend and how she and Peter will handle the situation. But honestly, if you read the first few books you could certainly get to the same conclusion. Which leads me to be redundantly redundant and to say that there is nothing new happening in this book, and therefore we don’t need it.

In fact, I would borrow from a friend if I didn’t have the habit of completing collections. So, if you don’t have this terrible addiction, don’t waste your money.

Now a moment to say a few words: Stop asking for sequences of stories that shouldn’t have sequences! Let it go! Get it off! Read new things! For God’s sake, stop being so attached! Do you want to find the character again? Read the book again. It’s what we do with Harry Potter to this day and it has worked. Look at the idea of the “sequence” in the form of a play that JK authorized. Fiasco. It will never be, never will be. Harry had 7 books and only 7 books. The universal principle is that stories have beginning, middle, and end.
