Playing for Keeps – Kendall Ryan (Hot Jocks #1)

Este livro foi bem esperado já que vocês conhecem todo o meu amor por jogadores de hockey depois de ter lido a série toda dos Amores Improváveis e de Ele.

Kendall não decepciona e traz uma história que embora não tenha partidas emocionantes de hockey como as narradas por Elle, sobra em desenvolvimento do romance central.

Em Playing for Keeps nós iremos conhecer Justin, um jogador de hockey de um time de Seattle de 29 anos (sim meu povo, esse livro é mais adultinho) que mora com seu colega de time e melhor amigo da vida Owen. Os dois são amigos desde a infância, e sempre viveram grudados.

Owen tem uma irmã mais nova, Elise. E Elise sempre teve um crush por Justin, mas ele nunca ligou pra ela por motivos de irmã mais nova do melhor amigo. Mas como iremos descobrir ele também nutre um crush por ela, que depois de adulta virou uma mulher e tanto.

Tudo iria ficar pra sempre no platônico mas em uma festa onde ambos bebem e acabam no mesmo quarto, digamos que o status platônico cai por terra. E aí está instaurado esse maravilhoso clichê de paixão que lógico terá altos e baixos pois Elise e Justin terão que lidar com seus sentimentos um pelo outro e também com a fúria de Owen quando souber o que os dois escondem dele.

A história é bem fofa, e apesar de eu ter ficado com uma bronca de Justin no início por causa de algumas atitudes, acabei derretendo meu coração quando ele aparece na escola que Elise dá aulas pra acudi-la num determinado evento.

Os personagens secundários me deixaram bem instigada, e estou ansiosa pelos próximos livros, pois mal posso esperar para ler a história de Owen (a próxima), que pra mim promete ser ainda melhor que e esse primeiro livro.

This book was really expected since you guys know all my love for hockey players after reading the entire Off-Campus and Him series.

Kendall does not disappoint and brings us a story that, while not having thrilling hockey matches like the ones narrated by Elle, is still very well developed in the romance section.

In Playing for Keeps we’ll meet Justin, a 29-year-old Seattle hockey player (yes people, this book is more adult, and we like that) who lives with his teammate and best friend Owen. The two are friends since childhood, and have always lived together.

Owen has a younger sister, Elise. And Elise always had a crush on Justin, but he never even thought about her, since she is his best friend’s younger sister. But as we will find out he also has a crush for her, who as an adult turned into a great and pretty woman.

Everything would be forever platonic but at a party where both drink and end up in the same room, let’s say platonic status falls apart. And then we will have this wonderful passion cliché that will naturally have ups and downs because Elise and Justin will have to deal with their feelings for each other and also with Owen’s fury when he discovers what they have been hiding from him.

The story is pretty cute, and although I was really upset with Justin at first because of his atitude after drunk night, I ended up melting my heart when he shows up at the school where Elise teaches to attend a particular event.

The secondary characters made me very excited, and I’m looking forward to the next books, because I can’t wait to read Owen’s story (the next one), which for me promises to be even better than this first book.
