The Play – Elle Kennedy (#3 spin off Briar U)

Eu tava esperando pra ler esse livro desde que terminei o The Risk e pré-encomendei ele no começo desse ano. E gente, a espera valeu muito a pena, cada real que paguei nesse livro foi muito bem gasto porque QUE HISTÓRIA! Eu amei! Entrou pro hall das minhas preferidas da Elle Kennedy junto com O Jogo, O erro e Nós.

A gente conhece o Hunter desde os livros da série que deu origem a Briar U, mas é só quando lemos The Chase que vamos saber mais dele, que por sinal amarga uma bela duma puxada de tapete do Fitz lá. Ainda tô aqui tentando superar o mal comportamento dele pq Fitz era um personagem queridinho meu antes.

Quem já leu The Risk, também viu que Hunter estava pegando Deus e o mundo para tentar esquecer a Summer, e que isso criou uma confusão enorme pra ele no final do livro pois ele acabou dormindo com a namorada de um jogador de Harvard sem saber.

E é pensando em não criar mais confusões desse tipo e também em ser um bom capitão que nesse novo semestre da facul ele vai tentar se abster completamente de sexo e mulheres num geral.

Hunter irá conhecer uma moça chamada Demi numa matéria de psicologia que ambos cursam juntos. O professor os escolhe para fazer um trabalho juntos. Um finge ser o paciente com um distúrbio x a ser definido por ele, e o outro como o psicólogo tentando diagnosticar o que o outro tem.

Os dois irão se conhecer aos poucos sabe, conforme passam os meses trabalhando nessa pesquisa.

Demi é a nossa mocinha dessa história. Uma pessoa adorável, alegre, articulada, que sabe o que quer,  e  que acha que já tem a vida amorosa traçada com o namorado desde a infância. O que não é bem verdade, e ela irá descobrir da pior maneira.

Irada com tudo que aconteceu ela vai então tentar convencer o “amigo” Hunter a ser seu rebound. O que pra nós, meus amigos, será o fruto de muitas situações engraçadíssimas nesse livro.  Sério, eu gargalhei em várias partes. Lembrem-se de mim quando lerem a cena do brinco e a cena do playstation!

Outra coisa que faz a história ser ainda melhor é que temos nossos maravilhosos Garret, Logan e Deannnn de volta. Eles participam de algumas cenas e gente, pra mim foi aquela participação digna sabe, que deu pra matar saudade mesmo. Obrigada Elle!

E dito tudo isso, sem cerimônia digo que me apaixonei por Hunter porque ele assim como o Blake Riley, em Good Boy (da série Ele), nos mostra que é muito mais que apenas um jogador de hockey bonitão sabe, ele tem profundidade e ele bota a Demi pra cima sabe. Hunter se mostrou assim como Dean pra mim, aquele tipo de homem que toda mulher deveria procurar, o tipo que a faz sentir a melhor coisa desse mundo.

A história se provou totalmente profunda e bem construída por te mostrar como os laços entre o casal foram se fortalecendo aos poucos, e enfim, é aquela história, quando o negócio acontece não tem mais como ninguém negar porque foi tudo tão bem explicado e construído que é só partir pra felicidade e ficar com aquele sorrisão no rosto quando fechar a última página assim como eu, que tô aqui suspirando desde que terminei isso faz quase uma semana.

Leiam esse série meus amigos, mas leiam acima de tudo esse livro, pois ele é de longe o melhor dos 3!

I’ve been waiting to read this book since I finished The Risk and pre-ordered it earlier this year. And people, the wait was very worth it, every dollar I paid in this book was very well spent because WHAT A STORY! I loved! It entered the hall of my Elle Kennedy favorites along with The Score, The Mistake, and Us.

We’ve known Hunter since the books series that originated Briar U, but it’s only when we read The Chase that we’ll know more about him, who had his trust badly hurt by Fitz and Summer. I’m still here trying to overcome Fitz bad behavior because Fitz used to be a favorite character of mine previously.

Anyone who has read The Risk also saw that Hunter was sleeping with pretty much every girl in front of him trying to forget Summer, what created a huge confusion for him at the end of the book since he ended up sleeping with a Harvard player’s girlfriend unknowingly.

And it is trying to not create any more confusion and also trying to be a good captain that in his new semester of the college he will try to completely abstain from sex and women in general.

Hunter then will meet a girl named Demi in a psychology class they both attend together. The teacher chooses them to do a research paper together. One pretends to be the patient with a disorder x to be defined by him, and the other as the psychologist tries to diagnose what the other has.

The two will get to know each other little by little, you know, as they spend months working on this research.

Demi is our main female character in this story. A lovely, cheerful, articulate person who knows what she wants, and who believes she has had a love life drawn up with her since childhood boyfriend. Which is quite not true, and she will find out the hardest way.

Angered by everything that has happened she will then try to convince her “friend” Hunter to be her rebound. What for us, my friends, will be the source of many very funny situations in this book. Seriously, I laughed so much in several parts. Remember me when you read the earring scene and the playstation scene!

Another thing that makes the story even better is that we have our wonderful Garret, Logan and Deannnn back. They take part in some scenes and for me, it was a worthy participation, since I could really enjoy the characters I’ve been missing. Thank you Elle!

And having said all this, I unceremoniously tell I fell in love with Hunter because he, like Blake Riley in Good Boy, shows us that he is so much more than just a handsome hockey player, he has depth and he put Demi up you know. Hunter turned out to be Dean type to me, the kind of man every woman should look for, the kind that makes her feel the best thing in the world.

The story proved to be totally deep and well built by showing you how the bonds between the couple were gradually strengthening, and when it happens there is no deny because it was all so well explained and built that you just have to prepare yourself for happiness and keep that smile on your face when you close the last page just like me. I’ve been keeping the smile since I finished it a week ago.

Read this series my friends, but read above all this book, because it is by far the best of the 3!
